| Abstract: | Urban Renaissance,a promotion policy with London as the center,had wide influences to other cities across whole the United Kingdom.For example,the regeneration of Birmingham downtown is one of the largest and most successful samples.In this paper,we will briefly introduce policy of British Urban Renaissance and Birmingham City firstly,then analyze each project with details,which include New Street Station,Bullring Shopping Mall,New Library of Birmingham,the Cube Tower in the Mailbox Complex,Brindley Place,and Canal around Gas Street Basin.Lastly,we showed the good result to Birmingham social and economic development caused by the above mentioned architecture and urban designs,and their enlightenment to city construction in contemporary China. |
