| Abstract: | Homophonic pun, one of the commonly used figures of speech in Chinese, is a unique language art which reveals the wisdom and cultural trait of the nation. The paper summarizes several homophonic puns with folk characteristics and analyzes them from the perspective of culture. It reveals that the Chinese is a nation with the cultural connotation of implicit humor, emphasizing harmony and tending to pursue good for-tune and avoid disaster. |
