| Abstract: | CHENG Du xiu strongly opposed the arranged marriage,and actively advocated a freely arranged one based on love.He fiercely condamned the moral concepts which the feudel ethical code enforced on Chinese women——being faithful to one's husband to the end by remaining unmarried after the death of him.He also thought women should have the same right of freedom of divorce and remarriage as men. |
