| 摘 要： | 英语习语有着悠久的历史渊源和深邃的社会背景,与其民族的历史发展、地理环境、风俗习惯、宗教信仰、神话传说、体育娱乐、文学作品等诸多方面的文化关系密切.英语习语使英语语言更加绚丽多彩、鲜艳夺目,能激发联想,深化主题或创设意境,文化信息异常丰富.其中一些由人名构成的习语更是妙趣横生,让人回味无穷.文章主要探讨了与人名有关的习语的来源.

| Abstract: | Directly originated from history, myths, religion, sports and games and literature, English idioms are widely and frequently used mainly for the sake of being more emphatic, vivid, associative, impressive and conspicuous. They are rich in cultural information and convey much more beyond their literal meanings. Mastery of their origins and interpretation is of great help to linguistic and communicative competence. The paper analyses the source of some English idioms that stem from the names. |
