| 摘 要： | 现今常熟乡镇的基本格局莫定于明清时期。明清两代是常熟市镇经济发展的鼎盛时期＾①，许多官僚、地主和商人纷纷创立市镇，招商集贾。常熟市镇的发展过程充分体现了江南水乡特色，布局结构多为夹河为市、沿水成街。一些市镇形成颇具特色的手工业和专业市场。随着市镇的手工业、商业发展，市镇人口结构逐渐变化，工商人口比重越来越大，外来人口越来越多。清末民初，常熟市镇的棉纺织业劳动形式广泛采用具有资本主义性质的雇佣劳动。

| Abstract: | The Ming and Qing dynasties were prosperous period of Changshu market towns economy,because many bureaucrats?landlords and businessmen one after another founded market towns, and invited outside investment . The development course of Changshu market towns unfolded the characteristic in Jiangnan,where the layout structure was the clamp river and the street for the market along water. Some market towns possessed characteristic handicrafts and markets.The population structure of market towns changed gradually, and the handicraft and commerce population increaesd greatly,with outside population larger and larger.During the late Qing dynasty appeared modern industry and the capitalism which waged labour in the cotton textile of Changshu market towns. |
