| 摘 要： | 大学基础英语教学的重复低效已不能完全满足大学生多元化的学习需求和社会经济发展的需要，大学英语后续课程是应用性和针对性更强的语言与内容相结合的课程，理应成为大学英语课程体系的有机组成部分。研究以笔者所在学校的大学英语教学现状为例，分析了目前大学英语教学的尴尬处境及其原因，提出后续课程可以作为有效的解决途径。研究认为，改革应该以《大学英语课程教学要求》和学校人才培养目标为依据，开设多元化的后续课程，满足学生个性化和实用性的学习需求。转变师生观念、更新教师知识结构、注重学以致用、充分利用网络技术建设课程学习资源是确保后续课程成功开设的必要条件。

| Abstract: | Taking the example of present college English teaching at Nanjing Xiaozhuang College, the paper probes into the difficult situation of college English teaching and its causes, and accordingly proposes the way out - to provide optional English courses, which are more practical and expected to meet the multiple needs of students. The following factors are believed to be the key to success of follow-up college English courses：teachers and students’ taking the cor-rect attitude to follow-up courses, teachers’ updating their knowledge, focusing on application of English and taking full use of the Internet resources. |
