| Abstract: | In the contemporary world, East Asia is an area which is characteristic of tremendous vitality and potentiality for development. The East Asian marvel consists in the evolution of Confucianist ethics and its positive role in the course of the modernization in East Asia, and the spread and penetration of the new Confucianist ethics in the same course. This constitutes a challenge to Max Weber's Protestant ethic proposition, and also a reconstruction of the theories of modernization and theories of development advocated by the post-war Occidentalist schools, thus foreboding a new mode of developing the modem Oriental civilization. |
