研究型大学教师服务责任观的建构

摘    要:对中国大陆和香港地区研究型大学教师的访谈发现,"服务"是一个模糊的交叉领域,概念上的混乱和聘任晋升标准对服务责任的不重视,是导致教师忽视服务职责的重要原因。教师的某项活动是否属于"服务"应视其做事情时的立场而定,因而学术责任与学术道德之利他价值观的树立尤为关键。

Abstract:This study employs the qualitative research approach and focuses on the concept of "service" responsibility as constructed by university teachers.Research data were collected through interviews with 21 teachers from two research universities in Chinese Mainland and one in Hong Kong.It is found that the concept of "service" is vague with overlapping dimensions.Conceptual confusion and the institutions’ haphazard approach to recognizing the merits of "service" have resulted in a general neglect of this kind of responsibility among their staff.This paper argues that whether an activity belongs to the "service" category is dependent upon the personal standpoint of teachers who perform it.Therefore,the value of altruism should be considered important as teachers discharge their duties.
