| Abstract: | The similarities and differences between Chinese and English are investigated and analyzed. The effectiveness of the use of discourse in cross-cultural context is studied. It is considered that realizing the differences will enhance the illocutionary force and avoid barriers of cross-cultural communication and pragmatic failure. |
