| 摘 要： | 林语堂的“表现性灵说”明显受到了克罗齐“表现说”的影响。林语堂本人也承认这点,但他所言之“表现性灵说”与克罗齐所言之“表现说”,既有相同的一面,也有相异的一面。克罗齐的“表现说”是以人的心灵为基点,重视心灵的张扬与活动的艺术学说,是其整个心灵哲学的有机组成部分。由于克罗齐把人类的一切活动归诸于人之心灵“表现”的结果,其“表现说”自然也难逃片面性。林语堂的“表现性灵说”则是以人生为基点,重在内心的舒展与自由的艺术主张,与其整个近情哲学紧密相关。由于其近情哲学看重现世人生,要求通情达理,其“表现性灵说”自然也就不会画地为牢,陷入克罗齐那样的片面境地。

| Abstract: | Evidently, Lin Yutang' s "Theory of Spiritual Expression" has been influenced by Croce' s "Theory of Expression" , which was acknowledged by Lin Yutang himself. But what Lin referred to as "Theory of Spiritual Expression" is both similar to and different from what Croce called "Theory of Expression". The latter is an artistic theory which takes the human soul as its center and attaches much importance to the expression and activity of the human soul. And it is an organic component of his entire philosophy about the human soul. As Croce attributes all human activities to the results of expression of man' s soul, his "Theory of Expression" , naturally and inevitably, cannot avoid being lop - sided or one - sided. On the contrary, Lin Yutang' s "Theory of Spiritual Expression" is an art proposition or principle that rests on human life and sets great store by the comfortable unfolding and complete freedom of the inner heart. For this reason, it is closely related to his whole philosophy concerned with human feelings or emotions. As his close -to-feeling philosophy greatly values practical human life and demands showing good sense, his " Theory of Spiritual Expression" naturally does not restrict people' s activities to a designated area or sphere, and therefore, it is by no means as lopsided as Croce's "Theory of Expression". |
