| Abstract: | ＂Redundancy＂ exists in all levels in legal English. It is the redundancy that makes legal English become more accu- rate, strict and professional. The redundancy in legal language, however, results in difficulties in translation, and the unbalance of redundancy can occur easily. Therefore, starting from ＂functional equivalence＂, translators should, in translating, supplement and delete various phenomena of redundancy existing in the original language properly according to the style and connotation of the text; otherwise, inadequate redundancy or over redundancy will be aroused. |
