| 摘 要： | “不但P，而且Q”常被看做递进复句的典型形式。本文通过对大量语言材料的分析发现：（1）P与Q在语义上并非总是前经后重、并列，有时Q是对P的补充，甚至P重Q轻的情况都很常见；（2）有时“不但”可用可不用，主要视话语中心的需要与说话人视觉变化，有时“不但……而且”必须配对使用，有时只能单用“而且”，这主要受制于某种特定条件。本文从语义、结构及语用的角度探讨合用与单用的制约因素。

| Abstract: | Not only P, but also Q" is usually regarded as a typical form of the compound sentence of ascending forcefulness. Based on the study of a large quantity of language data, this paper shows that, (1) between P and Q, the former is not always less important than the latter or parallel to it, and sometimes Q is a complement to P and it is by no means rare to see P weightier than Q; and (2) "not only" can be either used or omitted, depending on the center of interlocution and the point of view. Sometimes "not only" must be used jointly with "but also" whereas in other cases "but also" has to stand alone, subject to situational context. This paper is a research into the determinants of both the combined use of the conjunction and the independent use of "but also" from the perspectives of semantics, syntax and pragmatics. |
