| Abstract: | Based on Leech’s maxims of politeness ,this paper conducts a contrastive study between the use of politeness strategies in 20 Chinese prefaces and that in 20 English prefaces w hich are published about English study from 2000 to 2005 ,analyze their similarities and differences and state the reasons from the perspective of culture . |
