| Abstract: | This paper attempts to identify four trends in the development of journalism education,and of the media industry,in the West.On the basis of a study of these trends,it is argued that journalism education faces an imminent crisis which will oblige the individuals and institutions that provide it to rethink some of the things that they have long taken for granted.On the basis of a review of these trends,the paper suggests that there are real problems facing journalism education in the advanced world over the next few years and goes on to consider what changes might be implemented in order to meet those challenges. |
