| Abstract: | F1000 is a new on-line literature awareness and assessment service of research papers.After comparing expert assessment with bibliometric indicators as tools to assess the quality and importance of scientific research papers,we found that the service offers a systematic and comprehensive form of post-publication peer review that focuses on the best papers regardless of the journal in which they are published.In addition,inferences about the relative importance of journals are set out,which should also interest biologists. |
