| 摘 要： | metadata是“关于数据的数据”，本文介绍了metadata的基本情况，并对HTML和XML环境的 几个metadata规范进行了论述（包括 Dublincore，PICS，Web Collections，CDF，MCF及RDF）。由于metadata 在Internet信息资源的组织和发现方面起着非常重要的作用，作者呼吁国人应当加强对metadata的研究。
