| Abstract: | The conditions for developing English‐language academic journals in China are now favourable. Government investment in scientific research is increasing annually, there are many researchers at a high academic level with good English, and many key scientific research laboratories and engineering research centres have been established. There is also a big increase in the number of editors qualified in English. At present both the number and quality of English‐language journals are low, so the Chinese government is acting to support such journals and remedy their defects. There is thus a great opportunity for the development of such journals. |
