| 摘 要： | 公共图书馆的建立是现代公共阅读空间形成的一个重要标志。中国近代以来,以图书馆为主体的公共阅读空间面向社会大众采取了多种措施,如改善阅读条件、积极向社会各个层面推广阅读。以图书馆为主体的公共阅读领域以社会教育为己任,旨在营造公共阅读环境、提高国民素质,倡导公共阅读、开辟大众自我教育和学习的新途径,主要通过建立各种类型图书馆、更新观念、鼓励和促进各种读书会的建立、促进读书风气的形成、完成社会教育的任务等方式加以实现。
