| Abstract: | AbstractBook scarcity is a current problem plaguing both the educational programmes and professional practices in Nigeria. The author discusses the genesis of book scarcity, and makes suggestions to ameliorate the problems. She however advocates that a lasting solution is to publish books locally. In this regard the government needs to provide money for publishing textbooks and professional books; and encourage government departments to buy the books. Finally the author pleads for cooperation/resource sharing among libraries in order to achieve greater coverage in acquisition of materials for a better service. |
