| Abstract: | The number of journals in anthropology has been increasing rapidly in the last decade. This review covers 88 journals in cultural anthropology that started in the period 1975-1980. The publication of new journals reflects the growth of academic departments of anthropology throughout the world and the increasing specialization of cultural anthropologists. The largest number of new journals are in medical anthropology and the ethnic arts. Over half of the journals focus on one geographic area. Numerous journals are interdisciplinary in orientation, while being primarily anthropological in content. |
