网络规模发现服务的研究与实践

摘    要:分析跨库检索和“下一代图书馆目录”技术存在的缺陷,在此基础上阐述网络规模发现服务的基本原理和主要特点,并介绍WorldCat Local、Summon、EBSCO Discovery Service、Primo Central等几款商业网络规模发现服务产品及美国图书馆界对应用这项服务的反应。指出发现服务在中国的应用刚刚开始,它将有助于提高图书馆西文数据库的利用率,而开发中文网络规模发现服务是当务之急。

Abstract:Since federated searching and next generation library catalog technology are dictated by the slowest-responding resource,and there are issues with the ability of these resources to merge,it is difficult to meet with the need of young users.However,Web scale discovery service which based on the developing of cloud computing is the integrating and transcendence of them.There is a very large base of content indexed.It can provide similar academic search experience like Google Scholar,and also has a vertical academic index feature.Web scale discovery service such as WorldCat Local,Summon,EBSCO Discovery Service and Primo Central have a powerful search function,single search box and other characteristics,and the improvement has been achieved in American libraries.Data coverage and reliability are also worthy of consideration.Although Web scale discovery in China has just begun,it can improve the utilization rate of the library’s database.The development of Chinese Web scale discovery service is an urgent matter.
