| Abstract: | With the development of E-government service after mid-1990s, some inter-agency working groups of American federal government began to dedicate to the related research of Government Information locator service (GILS) and built the framework of the GILS based on a large number of cooperation projects. Thereafter, U.S. state governments and agencies are building their own GILS services with different characteristics on the same basis. GILS has been gradually integrated into the overall U.S. E-government construction, GILS can provide not only government digital information for citizens but a wide range of government services as well through the Internet. The exchanges and cooperation among various types of GILS' service are at rapid expansion. |
