在网络教育实践探索、教学改革和科学研究中,如何正确地选择和应用研究范式和研究方法,无疑是一个非常重要和关键的问题,同时又是一个尚未引起重视和关注的问题。本文以“数字化学习港与终身学习社会的建设与示范”教学改革项目为例,从方法论、研究方法或方式以及具体的技术与技巧等研究方法的三个层面出发,从研究对象的选取与确定、研究范式的选择和应用、个案研究和行动研究的开展,以及质性研究与量化研究的结合等四个方面来分析类似大型科研和教改项目所运用的研究范式和研究方法。一方面,分析、评价和反思项目研究方法的科学性和有效性;一方面,更重要的是希望对类似覆盖面广、规模较大,实践探索性强的科研和教改项目在研究方法上,特别是方法论层面上提供一些借鉴。  相似文献

The paper examines aspects of the relationship between teaching and research in higher education in social science research methods, with particular reference to the subject area of Education. There are three main themes: reflections on how social science research methods should be (or are) taught; a review of current debates about the relationship between teaching and research, both in higher education and for school teachers; and finally, reporting how a group of educational practitioners (mainly school teachers) studying at Masters level experience learned about research methods. The paper is illustrated by qualitative data from a case study of student experiences of research methods teaching on a Masters degree in Education in a research-intensive UK university. It is suggested that studying the journey embarked upon by taught postgraduate students inexperienced in research is helpful in understanding how learning about research methods takes place, which in turn can assist future research methods teaching.  相似文献

The purpose of this research synthesis is to examine the current research on teaching and learning research methods. The aims are to understand the themes present in the current literature and identify gaps in our understanding of how we teach, and how students learn, research methods. A synthesis of 89 studies generated three themes: (1) characteristics of students taking a research methods course, (2) teaching methods and techniques, and (3) content and course goals. Gaps identified include a lack of research on assessment and on what and how students learn in research methods courses. The majority of studies reviewed were teacher reports of attempted teaching strategies so that an additional need exists for other types of research into the teaching and learning of research methods such as case studies of students' learning or experimental studies of assessment techniques. Suggestions for instructors and future research are considered.  相似文献

运用内容分析法对《数学教育学报》(2011—2015)刊载的研究性论文的研究方法从5个维度进行了系统的量化分析。研究发现:中国数学教育研究最常用的研究方法是理论思辨、统计调查和内容分析,叙事研究、田野调查等质性研究方法较为罕见;实证研究正逐渐成为中国数学教育研究的主流,然而实证研究以量化研究为主,质性研究和混合研究较少;使用数学方法研究数学教育已经成为人们的共识,但使用的数学方法主要是简单统计;描述型研究在中国数学教育研究中占有绝对的主导地位,关联型研究和干预型研究严重不足。最后,针对中国数学教育研究方法中存在的问题提出了若干建议。  相似文献

Mixed methods research has the potential to advance theory and enhance the usefulness of research findings. However, the success of a mixed methods research inquiry is tied to how well researchers integrate the quantitative and qualitative strands, and to how well researchers address the standards for quality in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods. In this introduction article, we define mixed methods research and discuss what mixed methods research can offer to the field of educational psychology. Then we consider what constitutes integration and rigor in mixed methods research and describe three core mixed methods research designs. Following this overview, we briefly introduce each article to this special issue, along with the commentary by Vicki Plano Clark. We also discuss how the use of mixed methods can help address common educational problems including: (a) identifying and exploring socially-situated and contextualized learning processes; (b) providing insights into differences across individuals with respect to educational outcomes; and, (c) building instruments that reflect the experiences of individuals who will be assessed by these instruments. Finally, we close with thoughts on the future of mixed methods research.  相似文献

Capacity building in social science research methods is positioned by research councils as crucial to global competitiveness. The pedagogies involved, however, remain under-researched and the pedagogical culture under-developed. This paper builds upon recent thematic reviews of the literature to report new research that shifts the focus from individual experiences of research methods teaching to empirical evidence from a study crossing research methods, disciplines and nations. A dialogic, expert panel method was used, engaging international experts to examine teaching and learning practices in advanced social research methods. Experts, perspectives demonstrated strong thematic commonalities across quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods domains in terms of pedagogy, by connecting learners to research, giving direct and immersive experiences of research practice and promoting reflexivity. This paper argues that through analysis of expert responses to the distinct pedagogic challenges of the methods classroom, the principles and illustrative examples generated can form the knowledge and understanding required to enhance pedagogic culture and practice.  相似文献

中国的教育研究走向世界面临两个重要的瓶颈:一是数据资料的匮乏,二是研究方法的缺失.首先从教育技术研究的两个实例入手,以因果关系为主线,探讨了定量研究方法在教育中的应用.中西教育研究方法差异的表象之下隐含着中西思维方式和文化的差异,而这种差异曾经导致过痛苦的历史后果.其次从历史和文化的比较中,深信只有将分析与综合的方法有机地整合在一起,中国才会产生出超越西方的思想武器.同样不可否认的是,方法的缺失部分是由数据资料的缺失引起的.最后呼吁中国的决策者和有识之士应把教育数据资料库的建设、整合和透明公开使用,作为提升教育研究水平,增强教育决策科学性的战略性步骤来思考.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A recurring debate in mixed methods research involves the relationship between research methods and research paradigms. Whereas some scholars appear to assume that qualitative and quantitative research methods each necessarily belong with particular research paradigms, others have called for greater flexibility and have taken a variety of stances toward the integration of paradigms and methods in mixed-method studies. In this article, we review these arguments and stances, positioning ourselves in favour of flexible (but intentional) integration of any research method with any research paradigm. We then draw on a recent study of teachers’ experiences of professional development to provide an illustration of how a single paradigm can be used to inform the entirety of a mixed methods study, including study design, data collection, analysis and reporting. This illustration is particularly noteworthy since past mixed-method studies that have been grounded in a single paradigm have typically used the post-positivist paradigm, whereas our study involved an interpretive stance and a social constructivist epistemology. This article may, therefore, provide a useful resource for those considering the design of mixed methods studies as well as a practical demonstration to support theoretical claims in support of moving away from binary methods–paradigm associations and assumptions.  相似文献
