Pregnancy is associated with significant, but reversible changes in thyroid function studies, which are among the most profound
seen as a result of a normal physiologic state. The present study was carried out to find out alterations in thyroid function
tests in each trimester in normal pregnant women as compared to non-pregnant women in Tabriz-Iran. A case-control study designed
with 229 normal pregnant women that randomly selected from the first (64 samples), the second (92 samples), and the third
(73 samples) trimesters and 250 randomly selected non-pregnant healthy female controls. Age range in both groups was 16–40
years. Thyroid function tests carried out by measuring serum levels of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free and total thyroxin
(FT4, TT4), and free and total triiodothyronine (FT3, TT3) by commercially available radio immunoassay kits. We found that mean TT4 increased progressively during pregnancy. Our study showed increasing in serum levels of TT3 in the second trimester and then declining during the third trimester compared with non-pregnant women. We showed that FT4 strongly decreased during the third trimester. Free T3 showed declining in the second and third trimesters. Mean TSH did not show significant difference in each trimester compared
with non-pregnant women. The thyroid function tests in pregnancy should be interpreted against gestational age-related reference
intervals to avoid mis-interpretation of thyroid function during pregnancy. 相似文献

Glucocorticoids and its receptor are known to be involved in the dysregulation of hormone and lipid levels. Therefore, we
evaluated the association of Bcl1 gene polymorphism of glucocorticoids receptor (GCR) gene variant with hormone and lipid levels in Northern Indians obese. A total of 435 obese and non-obese age matched subjects
were included in the case–control study. Lipid and hormonal levels were estimated using standard protocols. Analysis of +646
C>G NR3C1 gene polymorphism was done using PCR–RFLP. The frequencies of GR Bcl1, C>G genotypes and alleles did not differ significantly (P > 0.05) between obese and non-obese. The +646 G allele carriers had higher waist to hip ratio, blood pressure, insulin and
glucose levels than non-carriers in obese subjects while diastolic blood pressure and glucose in non-obese. The NR3C1, +646 C>G polymorphism did not associate with obesity. However, the GG genotype may modulate blood pressure, blood glucose
and hormonal levels in northern Indians. 相似文献

Serum antioxidant status and peroxidative stress was estimated in 30 pregnant women, their newborn infants and 25 non-pregnant
women. Serum Ascorbic acid, α-tocopherol, retinol & β-carotene levels were found to be significantly reduced and peroxidative
stress was significantly higher in mothers as compared to matched non-pregnant women. Newborn had significantly higher levels
of ascorbic acid as compared to their mother but had significantly lower levels of lipid soluble vitamins. The peroxidative
stress in newborn was found to be significantly less as compared to their mothers. A positive correlation of ascorbic acid
and α-tocopherol levels between mother and newborn reflects that their status in mother does influence the newborn status. 相似文献

Lead poisoning remains a major problem in India due to the lack of awareness of its ill effects among the clinical community.
Blood lead, δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (δ-ALAD) and zinc protoporphyrin (ZPP) concentrations are widely used as biomarkers
for lead toxicity The present study was designed to determine the impact of chronic lead exposure on selected biological markers.
A total of 250 subjects, of both sexes, ranging in age from 20 to 70 years, were recruited. On the basis of BLLs, the subjects
were categorized into four groups: Group A (BLL: 0–10 μg/dl), Group B (BLL: 10–20 μg/dl). Group C (BLL: 20–30 μg/dl) and Group
D (BLL: 30–40 μg/dl) having BLLs of 3.60 ± 2.71 μg/dl, 15.21 ± 2.65 μg/dl, 26.82 ± 2.53 μg/dl and 36.38 ± 2.83 μg/dl, respectively.
Significant changes in biological markers due to elevated BLLs were noted. The relation of BLL and biological markers to demographic
characteristics such as sex, habits, diet and substances abuse (smoking effect) were also studied in the present investigation.
Males, urban population, non-vegetarians, and smokers had higher blood lead levels. δ-ALAD activity was found to be significantly
lower with increased BLL (P < 0.001), while the ZPP level was significantly higher with increased BLL (P < 0.001). Further, BLL showed a negative correlation with δ-ALAD (r = −0.425, P < 0.001, N = 250) and a positive correlations with ZPP (r = 0.669, P < 0.001, N = 250). Chronic lead exposure affects the prooxidant-antioxidant equilibrium leading to cellular oxidative stress. 相似文献

There is a rising trend in the prevalence of insulin resistance among obese, overweight children and adolescents. The serum
insulin and its correlation with biochemical, clinical and anthropometric parameters were evaluated in 185 children and adolescents
(59 control, 52 obese, 49 overweight, 25 congenital heart disease) of age group 10–17 years. The levels of serum insulin were
measured by ELISA. Serum insulin levels were found to be significantly increased in children who were obese, overweight and
had congenital heart disease, than controls. Serum insulin levels positively correlated with BMI, WHR, and serum C-peptide,
serum leptin, total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-cholesterol, systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Fasting glucose levels
were found to be negatively correlated with serum insulin levels. HDL-cholesterol levels were non-significant among the study
groups. We identified nine obese children (five girls and four boys) with the features of metabolic syndrome and 69% of obese
and overweight children were identified with insulin resistance. Insulin resistance was strongly associated with metabolic
syndrome and its components, especially with central obesity and hypertriglyceridemia. 相似文献

The main adverse consequences of excess bodyweight are cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes, and several cancers, IL-1Ra
serum concentration has been reported earlier to increase in human obesity and it is therefore assumed that the polymorphism
of IL-1Ra may influence cytokine production. We designed this study to investigate whether the IL-1Ra polymorphism was associated
with obesity. A total number of 103 individuals; 19 lean (BMI<25 Kg/m2), 51 overweight (BMI 25–29.9 Kg/m2) and 33 obese (BMI≥30.0 Kg/m2) were enrolled in this study. Genotyping was performed using a polymerase chain reaction PCR amplification of the intron-2
fragment harboring a variable number of tandem repeat (VNTR) nucleotide sequences 86 pb of tandem repeat. The PCR products
were separated on 2% agarose gel. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software (version 11.5). We found no significant
difference in genotype and allele frequencies between the three groups; lean vs. overweight and lean vs. obese (p=0.323; 0.202;
0.123 and 0.068 resp). However, an increased risk for obesity had a propensity to be higher in those having genotype II/II.
This genotype has been reported to be a ‘high producer’ of IL-1Ra. Although no statistically significant relationship between
IL-1Ra polymorphism and BMI was observed, however, a trend towards an increase of allele*II in overweight and obese group was observed. This may suggest that IL-1Ra appears to be induced by inflammatory stimuli
as well as obesity-associated factors. This is relatively a pilot study: but nevertheless, may assist in identifying the pathophysiological
cause for obesity. 相似文献

This study was carried out to estimate the levels of glutathione peroxidase and selenium in blood of abortion cases. Glutathione
peroxidase and selenium were determined in 52 abortion cases (22 in 1st trimester, 30 in second trimester), 45 normal pregnant cases and 25 nonpregnant control cases. The selenium concentration
in whole blood and plasma in abortion cases was almost the same as in normal pregnant women but significantly low when compared
with the control non-pregnant group. The glutathione levels was higher in abortion cases when compared with normal pregnant
and non-pregnant control groups. Red cell and plasma glutathione peroxidase activities of women who had abortion were significantly
lower compared with both non-pregnant control group and normal pregnancies. 相似文献

Ayurveda is a traditional form of medicine used by majority of the Indians. Here we report three cases of lead toxicity, following
intake of Ayurvedic medicines. Three patients presented with blood lead levels (BLLs) of 122.4, 115 and 42.8 μg/dl respectively
at the time of hospitalization. The first case was chelated with D- penicillamine, the second with calcium disodium ethylene
diamino tetra acetate (EDTA) and the third with environmental intervention and education. Associated Ayurvedic products were
collected from patients and analyzed for metallic concentration. Cessation of Ayurvedic medication along with chelation, nutritional
intervention and education, reduced the BLL to 27.4 μg/dl in the first case after 1 year, 21.1 μg/dl after 9 months in the
second and 18.2 μg/dl after 6 months in the third case. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of lead exposure on systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heme biosynthesis
related and hematological parameters of automobile workers. For this study 30 automobile workers were selected and compared
with 30 age matched healthy control subjects. Significantly increased blood lead (364%, P < 0.001) and urinary lead (176%, P < 0.001) levels were observed in automobile workers (study group) as compared to controls. Systolic blood pressure (5.32%,
P < 0.05) and diastolic blood pressure (5.87%, P < 0.05) were significantly increased in the automobile workers as compared to controls. The significantly decreased non-activated
erythrocyte δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (δ-ALAD) (−18.51%, P < 0.01) and activated δ-ALAD (−13.29%, P < 0.05) levels were observed in automobile workers as compared to normal healthy control subjects. But the ratio of activated/non-activated
δ-ALAD was significantly increased (43.83%, P < 0.001) in automobile workers as compared to controls. Excretions of δ-aminolevulinic acid (83.78%, P < 0.001) and porphobilinogen (37%, P < 0.001) in urine were significantly increased in the study group as compared to the controls. In automobile workers heamoglobin
(−11.51%, P < 0.001), hematocrit (−4.06%, P < 0.05), mean corpuscle volume (−3.34%, P < 0.05), mean corpuscle hemoglobin (−5.66%, P < 0.01), mean corpuscle hemoglobin concentration (−7.67%, P < 0.001), red blood cell count (−14.6%, P < 0.001) were significantly decreased and total white blood cell count (11.44%, P < 0.05) increased as compared to the controls. The results of this study clearly indicate that the absorption of lead is
more in automobile workers and it affects on blood pressure, heme biosynthesis and hematological parameters observed in this
study group. 相似文献

This work was undertaken to investigate correlation between oxidative stress and initiation of pathogenesis of pregnancy induced
hypertension (PIH). Fifty primigravidae in age group of 20–35 years and gestational age 28–42 weeks with PIH were taken as
cases. Twenty healthy primigravidae with no medical and surgical complications of pregnancy and with blood pressure ≤140/90
mm Hg served as controls. The cases were again subgrouped as severe preeclampsia (12 in number) and mild pre-eclampsia (38
in number). All of them were evaluated for serum malondialdehyde (MDA), Serum vitamin E and plasma vitamin C levels. The serum
MDA levels were raised significantly in women with mild preeclampsia (P<0.01) and in women with severe preeclampsia (P<0.01)
in comparison to normal primi gravida. The serum vitamin E levels were decreased in primi gravida with mild preeclampsia (p<0.1)
and in primi with severe pre eclampsia (P<0.1) in comparison to normal primi gravida but the fall was not statistically significant.
There was a significant fall (P<0.05) in the vitamin C levels in primi with mild preeclampsia than in the normal primi. The
vitamin C levels in severe preeclamptic patients were lower than the normal primi but the fall was not statistically significant
(P=0.10). The serum MDA and vitamin E showed a negative correlation in all the cases. The serum MDA and plasma vitamin C also
showed a negative correlation in the control and study group. This observation suggests that in hypertensive disorders of
pregnancy there is an imbalance between lipid peroxidation and antioxidant vitamin status because of oxidative stress. The
decreased serum concentrations of the antioxidant vitamins supports the hypothesis that lipid peroxidation is an important
causative factor in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia. The rise in antioxidants is probably to compensate the increased peroxide
load in severe preeclampsia. 相似文献

Reference intervals (RIs) of serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (fT4) were determined in 402 healthy pregnant women by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique after partitioning them into three trimesters. The reference population was chosen from a study population of 610 pregnant females by applying strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. The assays were done using proper quality control measures. RIs were calculated from the central 95 % of the distribution of TSH and fT4 values located between the lower reference limit of 2.5 percentile and upper reference limit of 97.5 percentile value 0.90 confidence intervals for the upper and lower reference limits were also determined. The reference intervals for TSH were 0.25–3.35 μIU/ml for the first trimester; 0.78–4.96 μIU/ml for the second trimester and 0.89–4.6 μIU/ml for the third trimester. Similarly, the reference intervals for fT4 for first, second and third trimesters were 0.64–2.0, 0.53–2.12 and 0.64–1.98 ng/dl respectively. The values thus obtained varied from those provided by the kit literature. In comparison to our derived reference intervals, the reference data from kit manufacturer under-diagnosed both subclinical hypo- and hyper-thyroidism within our pregnant reference population. 相似文献

Diabetes Mellitus in obese and non-obese Indian individuals.AIMS: Effect of Obesity and insulin resistance on diabetic control.SETTINGS AND DESIGN: 50 each groups Diabetic individuals obese and non-obese.METHODS AND MATERIAL: On selected 50 each group diabetic patient and normal, following blood investigations has been performed—Plasma Glucose,
Glycohemoglobin and Serum Insulin.STATISTICAL ANALYSIS USED: Individuals patient’s results were analyzed and compared with the normal controls.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The changes in glycosylated haemoglobin are mainly proportional to the post lunch glucose level (r=0.773) (p<0.01) and not
correlated to circulating insulin or the body mass index. However the levels were higher in obese diabetes (Type I and II
both) than in non-obese. Mechanism of resistance in insulin receptor interactions due to obesity is well known. However, obesity
does not seem to affect directly glycosylated haemoglobin. Under such circumstances, the reduction of weight for a diabetic
person can improve sugar control by minimizing insulin resistance and thereby can improve glycosylated haemoglobin levels. 相似文献

In order to see the pattern of changes in differential serum lipid and lipoprotein fractions as a risk marker of coronary
complication in paired ‘maternal—neonate’ blood samples in an iodine deficient zone, 26 pregnant women and their corresponding
new born infants at term delivery from the iodine deficient Bassa region of Plateau state, Nigeria were assessed and the results
were compared with those seen in a similar 44 group of women and their newborns assessed in non lodine deficient region of
Jos. The serum thyroid function and lipid and lipoprotein profiles were determined by ‘ELISA’ and ‘enzymatic’ methods respectively.
Urinary iodide excretion level was also measured in 14 pregnant women in Bassa, 23 pregnant women in Jos and 16 non pregnant
control from Jos. Results indicate that the pregnant women assessed in Bassa were iodine deficient (P<0.01) and their thyroid
status was strikingly reduced as reflected by a drop in serum level of T4/TBG ratio (P<0.01) and a rise in TSH (P<0.005) in
comparison to that seen in Jos. There was marked hypertriglyceridaemia and total hypercholesterolaemia (P<0.005), with differential
significant rise in LDL cholestotol fraction (P<0.005) in the women assessed in Bassa as compared to Jos. The HDL cholesterol
however dropped less significantly in the group (P<0.05) with a concurrent marked rise (P<0.001) in the serum ratio of LDL
cholesterol/HDL cholesterol, total cholesterol/HDL cholesterol and triglycerides/HDL cholesterol in the lodine deficient group.
A similar pattern of changes were seen in the corresponding neonates in the Bassa group as compared to Jos group. It is concluded
that the pregnant women and their newborn offsprings living in a longstanding environmental iodine deficiency run a higher
risk of developing coronary complications than those living in non endemic region. It is striking that such newborns surrounded
by a continued state of lodine deficient may at a later adult-period of life develop marked risk of coronary complication
and other features of hyperlipidaemias associated with varying thyroid insufficiency and accompanied iodine deficiency disorders.
Prophylaxis measures as intervention has been highlighted. 相似文献

Tobacco smoking products have a heavy impact on the public health of developed as well as non-developed countries by being
a main etiologic factor for the induction of cardiovascular diseases and tobacco-related cancer. The purpose of this study
was to determine the influence of tobacco smoking on the measurement of the humoral immune response in Egyptian pregnant women
with type 1 diabetes. Concentrations of serum immunoglobulin A, G and M in 35 smoking, 35 non-smoking pregnant women with
type 1 diabetes and 35 matched normal women were measured by ELISA. Women were matched by age and working life with controls.
Measurements suggested that diabetic smokers had decreased levels of IgG and IgM in their sera. It was found that normal individuals
had mean IgA, IgG and IgM levels of 2.80 mg/ml, 9.33 mg/ml and 1.66 mg/ml, respectively while non-smoker women suffering from
type 1 diabetes had mean levels of 3.47 mg/ml, 10.97 mg/ml and 2.05 mg/ml (p<0.0004,p<0.0001 andp<0.0002). However, the mean level of IgA, IgG and IgM in diabetic smoker sera was determined to be 3.33 mg/ml, 8.07 mg/ml
and 1.31 mg/ml, respectively (p<0.003,p<0.0001 andp<0.0001). The obtained results suggest that toxic smoke components were immuno-suppressant and may well play a part in the
complex immuno-pathogenesis interaction. The increased risk of smoking in insulin dependent diabetic pregnant women during
pregnancy is a further reason to encourage pregnant women to quit tobacco smoking. 相似文献

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a multifactorial disease where both genetic and environmental factors contribute to its pathogenesis.
Estrogen plays an important role in type 2 DM pathogenesis. A number of polymorphisms have been reported in the estrogen receptor
(ESR1), including the XbaI and PvuII restriction enzyme polymorphisms of ESR1,which may be involved in disease pathogenesis. Metallothioneins (MT) act as potent
antioxidants against various oxidative damages. Very few studies have indicated the association between Estrogen Receptor-α,
MT1 gene polymorphisms with type2 DM. A total of 100 type 2 diabetic women and 100 age, sex matched controls were recruited.
Using the PCR based RFLP method, the PvuII and XbaI polymorphisms of ESR1 and in MT1A (rs8052394 and rs11076161) gene polymorphisms were analysed. The genotype distribution and frequency of mutated allele showed no significant differences
between diabetic and non-diabetic groups in PvuII (χ2 = 2.443; P = 0.1181) or XbaI (χ2 = 1.789; P = 0.1812) and rs8052394 (χ2 = 1.154; P = 0.2840) or rs11076161 (χ2 = 0.4141; P = 0.5199), polymorphisms. This is the first Indian study to conclude that ESR1 and MT1 gene polymorphisms are not associated
with increased susceptibility to type 2 diabetes in Indian women. 相似文献

Concentrations of various trace elements are altered during pregnancy with changes in the mother’s physiology and the requirements of growing fetus. The aim of the present longitudinal study was to learn the changes of micronutrients Iron (Fe), Calcium (Ca), zinc (Zn) Magnesium (Mg) and copper (Cu) of pregnant woman and their relations with newborns levels. Serum levels of iron, calcium, zinc, magnesium and copper of 162 pregnant women and their newborns were determined by an inductively couple plasma mass spectrometer (ICP/MS). The results showed that majority (41 %) of pregnant women were in age group 26–36 years 55 % had high school and diploma levels of education and the total income ranged between 3 and 5 Rials million per month There was significant difference in iron levels during first, second and third trimesters, 76.0 ± 17.8, 63.5 ± 15.2 and 70.1 ± 14.4 μg/dl respectively. Significant difference was shown in zinc levels 79.5 ± 15, 74.5 ± 16.1, and 65.3 ± 14.9 μg/dl during three trimesters. Copper levels during pregnancy were significantly different (130.9 ± 43.5, 172.0 ± 38.94, 193.2 ± 28.5 μg/dl. The serum levels of calcium and magnesium during pregnancy were constant (Ca: 8.96 ± 0.48, 8.86 ± 0.47, 8.91 ± 0.42 mg/dl and Mg: 2.10 ± 0.21, 2.08 ± 0.28, 2.09 ± 0.29 mg/dl). Results showed that 13 % of pregnant women had hypocalcaemia and hypomagnesaemia. Thirty eight percent and 42 % of pregnant women had iron and zinc deficiency respectively. In this study, unlike zinc, no pregnant women were found deficient in serum copper levels. Calcium, iron, zinc, copper and magnesium levels in the newborn’s cord blood were 8.93 ± 0.43, 106.0 ± 26.1, 85.35 ± 16.6, 57.04 ± 13.8 and 1.99 ± 0.27 mg/dl respectively. In the present study the levels of iron and zinc in cord blood were higher than the levels of iron and zinc in maternal serum. The mean level of copper in cord blood serum in the current study was lower than maternal values. The mean serum calcium and magnesium in the serum cord blood and in the serum of the pregnant women were similar. 相似文献

Osteoporosis becomes a serious health threat for older postmenopausal women by predisposing them to an increased risk of fracture.
Osteoporosis and associated fractures are an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Special attention is being paid to
early detection, management, and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis in women. Biochemical markers can enable dynamic
and rapid measurement of total body skeletal metabolism and will be clinically useful in the management of postmenopausal
osteoporosis women (PMO) and also for assessing the effects of antiresorptive therapy. With this view, we planned to assess
osteoclastic activity by determining urinary hydroxyproline in osteoporotic women. The aim of this study is to measure urinary
hydroxyproline (expressed as mg of hydroxyproline/g of creatinine) and serum ascorbic acid in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis
and without osteoporosis. These biochemical parameters were determined 3 months post antiresorptive therapy (alendronate + calcium + vitamin
D) in postmenopausal osteoporosis patients. 60 postmenopausal women with osteoporosis in the age group 45–60 years and 60
healthy postmenopausal women (normal bone mineral density) in the same age group were included in the study. Urinary hydroxyproline
levels were significantly increased (P < 0.001) in PMO at baseline level as compared to control group. These levels were decreased significantly (P < 0.001) post therapy in PMO patients. Serum vitamin C levels were significantly decreased (P < 0.001) in PMO patients at baseline level as compared to controls. No significant change occurred of serum vitamin C level
post therapy. Raised excretion of hydroxyproline at the baseline level might be due to increased degradation of collagen type
I from the bone matrix in osteoporosis. Breakdown of collagen seems to be lowered as reflected by lowering of hydroxyproline
excretion post antiresorptive therapy. Alteration in the concentration of this marker can be very well utilized to monitor
the effectiveness of therapy. Thus simple, direct urinary assay to measure bone resorption is very useful in monitoring the
therapy in PMO and may become an integral part of the management of osteoporosis. 相似文献

India seems to have the highest prevalence of osteoporosis. With growing awareness of osteoporosis and its impact on life
span especially in India, special attention is being paid to early detection, management and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis
in women. Measurement of BMD and osteocalcin are of value in estimating bone turnover rates. The aim of this study is (1)
to measure the specific, sensitive bone formation marker such as osteocalcin and BMD in postmenopausal osteoporosis women
and postmenopausal non-osteoporosis women; (2) the follow up study to evaluate the impact of specific antiresorptive therapy
(alendronate + calcium + vitamin D) regimen in postmenopausal osteoporosis by assaying osteocalcin and BMD. Sixty clinically
diagnosed postmenopausal osteoporosis patients and 60 normal subjects (postmenopausal non-osteoporosis women) were recruited
as control. Mean bone mineral density T score and Z score was significantly decreased (P < 0.001) in postmenopausal osteoporosis patients as compared to controls. Highly significant increase in the mean score of
BMD—T score and Z score from baseline to post therapy of 3 months was observed in postmenopausal osteoporosis women. Serum osteocalcin levels
were significantly increased (P < 0.001) as compared to control group. Serum osteocalcin levels were decreased significantly (P < 0.001) from baseline to post therapy of 3 months in postmenopausal osteoporosis women. BMD is the best quantifiable predictor
of osteoporotic fracture and osteocalcin is specific, sensitive, promising, currently used marker for better prognosis of
osteoporosis and for monitoring responses to antiresorptive therapy. 相似文献

The EGF-R, also known as HER-1 or erbB-1 (EGF-R/HER-1/erbB-1), is a member of the human epithelial receptor tyrosine kinase
family. sEGF-R is considered to play a role in cardiac (patho)physiology. We aimed to investigate whether soluble EGF-R is
increased in congestive heart failure (CHF) patients and if related to disease severity. Soluble EGF-R, vitamin D, parathyroid
hormone (PTH) was studied, and being evaluated in relation to Ca2+, lipids, hsCRP, fibrinogen, serotonin, norepinepherine (NE). The study compared non-smoker, non-obese male CHF patients (n = 50) with age and gender-matched essential hypertension (HTN) patients (n = 20). Moreover, comparison with healthy control volunteers (n = 20) were employed. EGF-R/HER-1/erbB-1 was higher (P = 0.013) in 50 CHF male patients mean 12 ± 0.7 fmol/ml, than in 20 HTN, 9.25 ± 0.6 fmol/ml or in 20 controls, 6.25 ± 1 fmol/ml.
Serum EGF-R levels correlated positively with hsCRP and NE, and were highest among CVD patients (n = 70) as well as negatively with vitamin D and HDL-C. EGF-R/HER-1/erbB-1 levels are increased in HTN and more in CHF patients.
This study confirms a strong association between catecholamines as well as EGF-R/HER-1/erbB-1 levels with PTH and low vitamin
D levels, being related to hyperlipidemia and inflammation (hsCRP and fibrinogen) in CVD. Moreover, contributing to the complex
process of the inflammatory component of atherosclerosis in hypertensive patients that leads eventually to CHF. 相似文献

Determination of ammonia level in blood is important, especially in the diagnosis of hepatic disorders. An indigenously purified
enzyme was used in the standardisation of the assay. The assay is a two reagent system, requires five minutes for completion
and can be performed at temperature between 25–27°C. Performance of the assay was assessed by linearity, imprecision, functional
sensitivity and interference studies. Lyophilised reagent I and reagent II were found stable for at least one year. The plasma
level of ammonia for the controls was 13.7±7.3 μMol/L, whereas for subjects of hepatic disorders, it was 69.1±32.4 μMol/L
(P<0.001). The functional sensitivity was between 2–1000 μMol/L. Within-run coefficient of variation was between 1.1–2.0%
and between-run coefficient of variation was between 1.9–3.7%. The mean recovery after dilution was 99.6%. The present method
can estimate ammonia up to 1000 μMol/L without dilution of sample. Assay time of five minute may be shortened to one minute.
This method is suited for routine clinical use in treatment of hepatic disorders. 相似文献
