Since February 1982, the students enrolled after the reform of the college enrollment system have graduated and been assigned to work in various fields. These 1981, 1982, and 1983 graduates have become reinforcements for the contingent of intellectuals and a vital new force for the cause of the four modernizations. If we truly want to implement the Party's policy on intellectuals an all-round way and to avoid "treating the head when the head aches and treating the foot when the foot hurts" in our work on intellectuals in the future, we should get a timely understanding of how these young intellectuals fare in life, work, and study as well as their mental attitude, to provide an objective basis for the leadership to formulate policies. With this in mind, we surveyed a number of young intellectuals in institutions of higher learning, research institutes, secondary schools, and industrial and other units in Shanghai in June 1984. The survey adopted the method of random sampling. The data were collected from respondents' answers to the questionnaires distributed, and from panels we held. The following is a brief summary of the survey results of the living and working conditions of the 120 young intellectuals whom we used as our sample. 相似文献
