The ICEM General Assembly and Conference were held in Geneva from 23 September to 6 October 1979. The General Assembly, which preceded the Conference, was under the presidency of Ronnie Macluskie. During the Assembly ICEM members drew up new working plans for the sub-committees in charge of equipment, innovation and development and production and exchange. Members were able to attend the first showing of the film ‘Man and Energy’ which has been financed by a number of member countries and which will soon be available for use in education. At the conclusion of the General Assembly Hans Greetfeld was unanimously elected President.  相似文献

For the past ten years or so the working groups have assumed increasing importance in the life of the ICEM. Duly laid down under the terms of the articles, in the proceedings of the Council, at the General Assembly, the Executive Committee and the Officers, they play an original role and are leaving their mark more and more on the entire range of activities. The first in date was the Equipment Working Group set up in 1968 to determine ICEM policy in this field and to supervise the smooth running of cooperation among several countries in the design of hardware and the preparation of corresponding specifications.  相似文献

This study reveals and confirms earlier work regarding the positive influence of marriage on the scholastic achievement of community college students. It was found that marital status was an important predictor of community college graduating Q.P.A. in the following programs of study: Business Administration General, Business Administration Transfer, Executive Secretarial, and Nursing Education. Specifically, being a married woman appeared to place students in these programs at an academic advantage. It is suggested that researchers should look more closely at what marriage does to enhance a student's performance at the community college level.  相似文献

When the United Nations General Assembly authorized holding the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg, it was hardly a secret – or even a point in dispute – that progress in implementing sustainable development had been disappointing since the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. With poverty deepening and environmental degradation worsening, what was necessary, the General Assembly said, was not a new philosophical or political debate, but rather a summit of actions and results (United Nations, 2002). We can question the WSSD accomplishments and whether the subsequent actions and results will contribute in meaningful ways to sustainable development. However, I think it is more important for science educators to ask: What are the implications of WSSD for science education? Why is science education not more intrinsically linked to the goals of human rights, democracy, and social justice? What are the ways in which science education ought to be connected to issues of sustainable development? In essence, where are the footpaths to/from science education? I investigate such questions in this position paper, while arguing that an education in science ought to enable learners to: (a) understand how the natural world works, (b) understand how human systems are interacting with natural systems, (c) assess the status and trends of crucial natural systems, and (d) promote and follow a long-term, sustainable relationship with the natural world. These are the very ways in which an education in science (i.e., science education) ought to be connected to issues of sustainable development.  相似文献

The World Report on Children and Violence, (Pinheiro, 2006) was produced at the request of the UN Secretary General and the UN General Assembly. This report recommended improvement in research on child abuse. ISPCAN representatives took this charge and developed 3 new instruments. We describe this background and introduce three new measures designed to assess the incidence and prevalence of child abuse and neglect.  相似文献

In contrast to the sultry weather of last year's Assembly in Lisbon, autumnal sunshine and a nip in the air greeted the large number of delegates to the 19th General Assembly held in Stockholm from 22–26 September, 1969. The last time the Conference was held in Stockholm was June 1957. Those attending this year were keen to see and hear of the rapid advances made in equipment supply and teaching methods in the twelve years' interval. They were not disappointed.  相似文献

Theories of organisation actually become ideologies, legitimisations for certain forms of organisation. They deploy arguments in terms of rationality and efficiency to provide control. The limits that they impose upon the conception of organisations actually close down the possibility of considering alternative forms of organisation. This is nowhere more clearly evident than in the current application of management theories to schools. Such theories marginalise empirical studies of school practice and dismiss the folk‐knowledge’ of teachers as irrelevant. They are as significant for what they exclude as for what they include (Ball, 1987, p. 5).  相似文献

It has taken some two decades for the concept of the learning organisation to achieve recognition as a powerful way of reengineering for life long learning. During this time, schools have been through a period of very rapid change but, paradoxically, many look less like learning organisations today than they may have before the introduction of the Education Reform Act. This paper examines some of the key ideas behind the learning organisation, explores why the concept is so powerful in contemporary contexts, identifies various types of learning organisations and suggests an analytical technique for relating styles of organisational learning to the environmental context. The paper concludes with an analysis of the implications of learning organisation concepts for schools and school leaders.  相似文献

One of the important events relevant for higher education in Europe which took place in 1979 was the 7th General Assembly of CRE ‐the Standing Conference of Rectors and Vice‐Chancellors of the European Universities (13‐17 August 1979, Helsinki).

The present membership of CRE includes 352 universities and institutes of higher education in 23 European countries.

The following article, written by Dr. Andris Barblan, Secretary General of CRE, reflects major problems discussed during the General Assembly (Editor's Note: This article is based on the paper presented by Dr. A. Barblan at the Seminar “University Today” which was held on 28 August 1979 in Dubrovnik).

In 1981, the members of Papua New Guinea's National Assembly moved that education should become free from Grades 1 to 10 the following year. The motion was partly supported for humanitarian reasons. But in the original debate, and even more strongly during subsequent discussion and attempts at implementation, political factors came strongly to the fore. One fact which was not emphasised, when the parliamentarians originally passed the motion, was that the national government, in a decentralised system, actually had no power to abolish fees; and because of poor organisation and political rivalries, the scheme largely backfired. This paper examines the reasons why the scheme was launched, the reasons for its demise, its implications for social and inter-provincial inequality, and its effects on national-provincial government relations.  相似文献

This account tells the story of the development of an action learning culture in the BBC between 2002 and 2007. From its early beginnings as a sporadic, unsystematic intervention with a small number of leaders scattered throughout the organisation, action learning has now become embedded in our approach to the way we develop our leaders. In this paper we look at the organisational context in which we were developing action learning, the way it became an integral part of a systemic change intervention, the barriers we had to overcome on the way, how we built an internal resource capability and how action learning evolved. We evaluate the impact it has had on the organisation and on our practice, exploring lessons learned during this time and offering ideas for the way ahead.  相似文献

腐败犯罪问题严重威胁着社会的稳定与和谐发展。为了有效打击腐败犯罪,第五十八届联合国大会通过了《联合国反腐败公约》,中国已于2005年批准并签署了该公约。其第37条确立的"与执法机关的合作"是一个亮点,有利于积极侦破和追诉腐败犯罪,但我国相关立法较为滞后,因而如何正确理解和有效落实该公约有关规定,具有重要而紧迫的意义。  相似文献
