This paper covers an experimental study with the application of cooperative learning in the college English teaching to vocational students. It intends to find answers to the following questions: how do students cooperate in cooperative learning? Can cooperative learning promote students’ learning? The author conducts an experiment by applying recording. Based on the above research work, this result has been reached: cooperative learning can promote students’mastering of vocabulary and grammar. Being increasingly implemented in China’s higher educational context,formative assessment becomes emphasized in many policy initiatives.Formative assessment in China educationally borrows many key principles from Western contexts which may cause the challenges in the implementation of formative assessment in Chinese higher education from three aspects:sociocultural context,teachers’knowledge,understanding and practices of formative assessment,and students’involvements.To meet these challenges,some possible suggestions are given which may help further study on this issue.  相似文献

Adult learners are already involved in the process of self-regulation; hence, higher education institutions should focus on strengthening students' self-regulatory skills. Self-regulation can be facilitated through formative assessment. This paper proposes a model formative assessment strategy that would complement existing university teaching, and can be used in higher education to promote student-centered self-regulated learning with minimal effort and time input from teachers. Based on this model, a real-world teaching example on writing an essay as a challenge task has also been developed. This model strategy incorporates Nicol and Macfarlane-Dick's seven principles of good feedback practice that promotes self-regulation.  相似文献

Among so many learning strategies,metacognitive strategy is considered as the most crucial one and higher than other strategies.This thesis attempts to know the current situations of metacognitive strategy use of rural junior middle school students in different grades and the existing problems.This study conducted the quantitative method by sending questionnaires.The subjects were 120 rural junior middle school students of a town-level middle school in the mountainous area.The result of the study shows that,students in different grades have much difference on the metacognitive strategy use.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate how washback effect of a reformed test influenced students’perspectives in their spoken English learning. This study was expected to enrich the existing literature in testing washback in English as a foreign language context.Findings indicate that the adding of oral part in achievement test does have a positive washback effect on students’learning. The present study was carried out to analyze the effect of language self-efficacy and listening strategy on academic achievements in Chinese Qinghai-Tibet Plateau EFL learners.To achieve this goal,eighty-seven university students participated in the study and filled in language self-efficacy and listening strategy questionnaire.The result revealed that learners’language self-efficacy,listening strategy are positively correlated with academic achievements.Comparing the two factors influencing language learning,self-efficacy has higher prediction than listening strategies to academic achievements.Inner correlation exists in language self-efficacy and listening strategies.No gender exists.The study shed more light on the influence of self-efficacy and listening strategy on students’performance.  相似文献

English writing is the college students’synthetical application about the knowledge of English.English writing,however,is the weak segment of the college students'English learning all the time.Based on the researches home and abroad,the paper makes an implicational study on interlanguage fossilization in English writing of Chinese college students.Though probing the causes of fossilization in English writing,the paper proposes some measures to reduce the fossilization.In the chapter one,the paper introduces simply the interlanguage fossilization.In the chapter two,the paper analyzes college students English writing and get the causal factors of fossilization:unfavorite learning motivation of students,ineffective feedback to errors,interference of the mother tongue.Then,at the last chapter,the paper put up some measures to overcome and avoid the fossilization in college students'English writing:promoting students'motivation,providing right feedback,avoiding mother tongue interference.  相似文献

Assessment reform is an indispensable component of school curriculum reform. The "English course guideline for primary and secondary school students" (2001) (Hereafter guidelines) advocates that assessment should stress on students, which means teachers, parents should pay more attention to students’ differentiae and their processes of study, but not only on the results they have got in the tests. As a result, portfolio, which has some advantages that accord the requirement of the new syllabus, is introduced as a new way of assessment, for it can help change the assessment system from quantity-oriented to quality-oriented. This study explores how the Chinese learners apply the learning strategies in the language learning.The research examines how to understand EFL learners uses of learning strategies in language learning.The SILL(the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning) was the instrument of this study.The results show that the frequency of strategy use does not vary among the different levels of learners based on the SILL’s mean scores.The results suggest that as the learners’ levels become higher,the EFL learners tend to choose more strategies which are reflective of their active learning.  相似文献

This paper is about a reflective practice happened in the author’ s College English teaching.Since 2005,a 5-minute oral-presentation was required for all the students in turn,in order to raise opportunities for them to practice oral English.But the students’ responses were always disappointing since they only took the task as a burden.After the teacher lift the limits on presentation time,form,sequence,partner,etc.,better learning outcomes were achieved.When reflecting on this change,Biggs’3P Models of "constructive alignment" is taken into account.Any teaching and learning activity (TLA) cannot put the students’ and the teacher’ s presage aside since the students’ ability,interests,motivation as well as the teacher’ s objective,assessment approach and so on are co-determinants of a successful TLA.Further suggestions are given based on this reflection at the end of the paper.  相似文献

This survey has been processed on 78 graduate students in grade 2010, majoring in science and engineer, from different classes. By analyzing the results of College English Test 4 and questionnaire, it shows that the students’ English learning motivation roots in Certificate.
