研讨式教学在西方发达国家高等学校已成为一种普遍的教学方法。笔者对英国普利茅斯大学在埃克斯茅斯分校的英语专业及其他专业的教师使用研讨式教学的调研及介绍;对毕节学院外语系外籍教师,部分外语系教师进行调研;笔者本人使用研讨式教学的尝试以及对外语系学生进行问卷调查,结果表明英国普利茅斯大学的研讨式教学适应于毕节学院外语系。适当使用研讨式教学比单一使用传统的演讲式教学效果好。  相似文献

This paper explores the operation and contribution of induction seminars operated as learning communities for new teachers. Mixed methods were used: 378 new teachers and 29 seminar leaders completed questionnaires, 16 new teachers and 14 seminar leaders were interviewed, and 20 seminar meetings were observed. Findings showed that seminar discussions focused primarily on coping with discipline problems, building self-confidence, and developing a professional identity. The main contribution of the seminars was emotional support provided in a non-threatening environment. Findings imply that seminars can be a significant supplement to in-school mentoring for the professional development and adjustment of new teachers.  相似文献

The paper is an extension of a previous study, which examined student perceptions of a unique freshman seminar offered to Criminology and Criminal Justice students at Florida State University. The seminar is characterized by a heavy focus on interactive library sessions in which students learn how to conduct research and write a scholarly paper. The previous article reported on student perceptions of research and writing skills developed in the seminar. This report, using Multivariate Regression and Propensity Score Matching reveals that compared to a carefully constructed comparison group, first time in college students enrolled in the seminar have statistically significantly higher cumulative grade point averages and percentages of graduation within four years. The seminar’s emphasis on the library as a research tool is thought to have contributed to the differences seen on academic outcomes between students who took the seminar and a matched comparison group.  相似文献

He goes on to list a number of key questions that were identified in relation to 'values education', 'thinking skills', 'emotional intelligence' and 'ICT'. The aims, form and contributions to a seminar which sought to identify areas for continuing work and further research are described. Several of those who contributed to the seminar have written papers for this special issue of the journal. Most postgraduate research students face the task of presenting an oral seminar on their proposed research early in their candidature. Those of us who work with international postgraduate research students know that they can find this task daunting, and the literature both in Australia and abroad confirms that these students often lack confidence in this task. This paper presents findings of a small case study which compared the influence of observing a seminar performance of a peer to that of a senior academic on the confidence, or self‐efficacy, for seminar presentations of participants in a bridging program for international postgraduate research students at an Australian university. Participants responded to a 19‐item questionnaire which measured self‐efficacy for four areas of seminar presentation: speech, display, content, and presenter presence. The results indicated that the use of a peer model performance was the more effective pedagogical method for enhancing student confidence in this context.  相似文献

The data from this study indicated that those students who attended one seminar early in the course and those who did not tended to be different subsets of the course population. There was some evidence that seminar attenders progressed more rapidly through the first part of the course and had higher completion rates than non-attenders. However, seminar attenders appeared to take longer to complete the course than non-attenders. The results from the study were strictly correlational and it was not possible to determine the extent to which seminars attracted high performance students or contributed to higher performance.  相似文献

This paper describes the evaluatin of a weekly school-based MSW field seminar with multiple purposes, among which was the integration of classroom and field learning. Both students and seminar instructors found the primary purpose of the seminar to be one of professional support. Knowledge integration was reported by participants to have taken place more often in structured vs. unstructured group sessions. Student suggestions have implications for such a seminar as a learning lab as well as a forum for professional growth and self-awareness.  相似文献

Abstract

The author reports the results of a seminar with Russian secondary school teachers that explored the integration of English as a foreign language (EFL) competencies with environmental studies. Texts were selected for a comparative American and Russian environmental literature curriculum for advanced students of English, which inspired the Antaeus Project, an international collaboration between schools that offers a cross-cultural curriculum grounded in local environments.  相似文献

在航空发动机结构冲击动力学新生研讨课中设计了冰撞击和外物损伤模拟实验教学环节,通过设备技术安全改造、实验方案优化、实验大纲编写、分组实验观察等教学手段,将课堂理论教学与实践教学有机结合,加深学生对结构冲击学问题的认识。通过对学生进行问卷调查,对实验教学在新生研讨课中的教学效果进行了总结与分析。结果表明,在新生研讨课中开展实验教学,有助于学生快速深入地掌握课堂教学理论知识,调动学生参与教学活动的积极性,提高学生动手能力,推动学生理解航空特色,对学生规划未来专业方向起到了较好的辅助作用。  相似文献

在西方国家,思辨能力的发展被视为高等教育的核心技能之一,其相关理论、方法论和教学实践研究成果丰硕。相比之下我国的相关研究尚不充分,学生思辨能力的培养并未得到足够的重视。思辨缺席是近年来我国外语界研究的一个热点问题。如果从教学实践的角度观察外语专业研究生思辨能力的培养,我国学者认为在研究生课程中采用Seminar教学范式是提高学生思辨能力的有效途径。  相似文献
