In recent years most marriage and family journals have expanded their coverage to include research and information on mental health, ethnic groups, sexuality, women, rape, family violence, and the elderly. Given the increasing number of such periodicals, it has become more and more important that behavioral and social sciences librarians develop some familiarity with the literature in this growing field. A relatively fast development has already taken place in the academic research of the Chinese special or technical secondary school libraries,but there were only 10 research papers published on the subject before 1980.with an annual averrage of less than one.During a period of ten years from 1981-1990,however,the number of papers had gone up from 10 to 127.Still,there were problems to solve,such as,the dispersedness of content of the papers and the periodicals that had published them,and furthermore,key periodicals had not been taken shape.The author suggests that the ralated publications should start a special column called the "Special or Technical Secondary School Libraries"or established oneself special key periodicals so as to promote the academic exchanges.illus.1 tab.4 相似文献

An analysis of the content of sixty popular health periodicals covered in 1986 by the Consumer Health & Nutrition Index was made to identify the characteristics and concerns of popular health magazines and newsletters. The literature mirrors the health values and anxieties of the American public. While some of the literature diverges from mainstream allopathic medicine, most popular publications succeed in presenting coherent, reasoned, and documented viewpoints. Because there is no consensus on many medical problems, it is important that individuals have the freedom to read dissenting and alternative points of view and consider multiple options before making informed and reasoned health decisions. The popular literature is a valuable yet inexpensive source of reliable information on topics of current concern. The publications are not as well known as they deserve to be because they have not been adequately indexed, while they have not been indexed because they are not well known. The Consumer Health & Nutrition Index now provides expanded subject access to sixty health-related periodicals plus all health-related articles in sixteen general interest magazines. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Chinese medicine (CM) has been the subject of increasing interest in the past 30 years, both as a discipline and in the larger context of alternative medicine. It has steadily been accepted by and integrated into the medical and health-care fields in many countries. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to gain an overview of how CM has been interpreted and presented to the world outside China and to identify emerging trends. METHODS: This study is designed to analyse the publishing trends of CM and related subjects in all languages except Chinese, ranging from books and serials to audio-visual and electronic resources found in WorldCat, the world's largest bibliographic database produced by OnLine Computer Library Center (OCLC). RESULTS: The findings showed a flourishing growth of publications in CM and related subjects beginning in the 1970s with greater coverage on acupuncture. The materials in English language constitute the major portion of total output. CONCLUSION: We conclude that Chinese medicine has steadily gained recognition in the world based on the analysis of publication records. The translation of original works and analysis of journal literature and conference proceedings on Chinese medicine merit further study. 相似文献

以2011年版《中文核心期刊要目总览》第4编的347种自然科学核心期刊为样本,对其微信公众账号的开通状况做了调查与分析.截至2015年1月1日,仅有38种期刊开通了具有实质性内容的微信公众账号.合并12种“多刊一号”期刊,实际分析的期刊公众账号共28种,依照没有固定栏目和有固定栏目2种情形加以讨论.结果显示:没有固定栏目的13种期刊其微信公众账号的不足较为明显;有固定栏目的15种期刊其微信公众账号具有“阅读界面简洁明了,用户个性化需求更易满足;信息内容涵盖丰富,宣传推广功效更加显著;特殊功能开通,微信平台效能越发突出”等优势.认为今后应充分认识微信公众平台在学术期刊出版界的应用前景,注重栏目设置、内容优化以及宣传推广. 相似文献

There is a significantly growing interest in publishing in international scholarly journals in Vietnam. On the one hand, Vietnamese researchers can be potential authors of interesting articles that provide new insights into the emerging economic context. On the other hand, they can be target consumers and subscribers of journals in their quest for academic and practical knowledge. This paper aims to propose marketing initiatives for publishers and editors who seek to promote their journals to researchers in emerging countries, particularly Vietnam. This paper presents the results of a bibliometric study of the scientific publications that are affiliated with Russia and
included in multidisciplinary databases, such as Science Citation Index and Scopus, as well as in the specialized Chemical
Abstracts database, in the period from 2005 to 2009. Major bibliometric indicators, including citation indexes, are explored.
It is shown that the Scopus database contains most of the Russian publications in the period from 2005 to 2009. While a gradual
decrease in the number of peer-reviewed Russian-language journals constitutes a general trend for all three databases, the
Chemical Abstracts database leads in terms of the coverage of these journals. It is found that despite the large number of
translated versions of journals, Russian publications are still significantly late in their coverage by foreign databases,

The entries are categorized as biographical sources, library bibliographies and catalogs, regional cartobibliographies by place of publication or geographic area of map coverage, thematic cartobibliographies, indexes to monographic and serial publications, comparative studies and introductory texts accompanying facsimile publications, basic bibliographies on the history of cartography, and cartographic periodicals. It provides examples of these various types of sources and comments on their helpful features. Government publications in serial form provide timely, authoritative information on a range of subjects but reference librarians are not always aware of what is available in these sources. In libraries with separate documents departments, reference staffs may abrogate all responsibility for government publications, relying upon commercial sources to fill information needs more appropriately met with government periodicals. Documents librarians and reference librarians can facilitate the incorporation of govemment information in serial form into the general reference process.
