Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) is beyond doubt the most advanced language teaching approach in the new era. Yet, it was treated coldly in China at the outset. After over two decades of reform and trial, Chinese educators become aware that CLT does not clash but complement with Chinese traditional teaching methods if used selectively and flexibly. Communicative language teaching(CLT) has been introduced to the English-as-a-foreign-language(EFL) context in China for four decades.One of the most significant remaining issues is related to whether this approach to grammar teaching is more effective and efficient than traditional ones.Based on an overview of trends in approaches to grammar instruction,discussion on both advantages of teaching grammar communicatively and the challenges posed by the Chinese EFL context are provided.It is proposed that grammar instruction should be integrated into a communicative framework and this would be the optimal approach to grammar teaching on condition that some constraints in the EFL context in China are dealt with carefully.Teaching implications conclude this paper. 相似文献

由于课堂交际具有线性特征(the linier feature),互动教学方法对提高学生外语的接触量和使用量具有一定的局限性。网络交际与外语教学相结合的方法不但可以解决上述问题,而且还可以为学生提供真实的语言输入和更多的参与目的语社会文化语境的机会,提高他们的语言能力和语用能力。同时,网络互动可以为学生提供均等的语言输出的机会,激发他们的学习动机,提高他们的学习自主性。 相似文献

本研究以183名中国英语教师和159名泰国英语教师为研究对象,通过问卷调查从五个方面对比分析了两国教师的语言学习信念。结果显示,在调查的五个方面的34项语言学习信念中,两国教师有29项存在显著性差异。在语言学习能力方面,泰国教师对外语学习比中国教师更乐观和自信;对语言学习难度的看法上,中国教师认为英语语言学习的难度要远比泰国教师认为的大;在对语言学习本质的认识上,中国教师的信念更现代和客观,泰国教师更倾向于传统的语言学习信念;在外语学习与交际策略方面,中国教师不仅更关注语言的准确性,也同样更重视语言表达的流利度;对于学习动机与期望,中国教师的外语学习动机比泰国教师强,泰国教师的外语学习动机更倾向于融入型,而中国教师学习外语的动机更倾向于工具型。 相似文献

This article discusses how students and teachers in an Advanced English as a Foreign Language (EFL) class in Cape Town, South Africa, construct meaning through mobile phones. Drawing on Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT), mobile phones are viewed as cultural artefacts that learners and teachers engage in the construction of meaning-making practices resulting in contradictions that potentially lead to radical transformation in the object and subject positions offered in the classroom. The case study was located in a Cape Town EFL institution with 14 adult foreign language learners and two foreign language teachers as participants. The findings indicated potential primary contradictions in division of labour and object owing to the teachers’ uptake of communicative language teaching (CLT) practices and their institutional roles. As contradictions must necessarily lead to change in a system, the authors propose that the use of mobile technology has the capacity to shift pedagogy in this context. 相似文献

本文针对交际法在中国所产生的效果不甚理想这一事实,通过对BANA和TESEP背景下的英语教学特点和BANA背景与我国的社会文化背景、教学文化背景以及语言文化背景进行分析比较,借用Prabhu的最佳教学法观点和Cook对交际法的批判观点,多角度地对交际法进行分析,指出交际法在很大程度上不适宜我国的社会文化背景、教育文化背景和语言文化背景。对交际法的推广应建立在理解的基础之上,切忌盲从。文章还指出要对我国的教育文化背景进行改造,要创造条件,扬交际法所长,以实现对学习者交际能力的培养。 相似文献

文章采用三种方法对学生英语口语的纠正反馈在CLT课堂的重要性进行了实证研究。先通过访谈、问卷调查了教师和学生对纠正反馈的态度和偏好,再运用听课记录分析了教师对学生错误纠正的频率,以及纠正反馈所产生的作用。调查结果发现,大部分老师和学生对纠正反馈持肯定态度,交际互动中老师对学生口语错误的纠正反馈能较大程度上引起学生对正确语言的理解并对错误做出一定量的修正。据此,本研究认为,在CLT课堂中,适当的纠正反馈是重要的,必不可少的,对学生的英语学习有很大的促进作用。 相似文献

This study examined whether factors affecting first language reading acquisition also affect English Foreign Language (EFL)
reading acquisition. Hebrew (L1) and EFL reading related measures were administrated to 145 fourth graders from the north
of Israel who were beginning their first year of English instruction. Results from a Linear Structural Equational Analysis
(LISREL) showed that the Hebrew independent variable consisting of morphological and phonological awareness, orthographic
ability, and word reading (accuracy and speed) predicted EFL knowledge of letter sounds and names, word attack and reading
comprehension. In addition to the Hebrew independent variable, English word recognition (accuracy and speed) predicted English
reading comprehension. These results support the Linguistic Coding Differences Hypothesis (LCDH), which argues for core linguistic

Communicative Language Teaching(CLT) has become a driving force in English Language Teaching programs in most parts of the world.It is based on the assumption that students can more easily develop language skills if the language is related to their lives and if they are given sufficient opportunity to practice them with their peers.This approach considers communicative competence as its goal of teaching.In this paper,the author tries to explore the application of Communicative Language Teaching to English teaching in vocational schools in China.To begin with,the author gives a brief introduction to Communicative Language Teaching and vocational education in China,followed by the theoretical framework.Then,the application of CLT to English teaching in vocational schools in China is elaborated in detail.Finally,the author gets the conclusion that English teaching in vocational schools must consider training students' communicative competence as its final target and a difficulty is noted by the author in terms of applying CLT to English teaching in vocational schools in China. 相似文献
