Many practicing Muslims have a faith-based perception of education. This could point to a tendency towards meta-ethnic homogenization (and, hence, segregation). Unlike the dynamics described in the previous chapter, meta-ethnic homogenization is an overarching concept with respect to the concerned ethnicities. Proceeding from the doctrine of Islam, the question of if and to what extent this faith really does engender a process of self-segregation is explored.  相似文献

“全球化”作为一种化发展趋势而言,最根本的特点就是全世界不同化发展中的趋同,即向具有普适性的方向发展——从普适性价值观念的形成到生活方式、审美趣味等各方面化特征的可交流性和相似性越来越突出。当代的大众审美化活动和具有精英化性质的现代主义艺术都不例外地产生了这种同质化趋势。同质化是自启蒙主义以来化的交流、技术的发展带来的普遍性理想的特征,是一种进化论的化观念。然而随着现代化的发展,这种一元性的化发展趋势正在产生危机。由大众化和现代主义造成的同质化趋势使艺术正在走向单调和枯涸的终结之路。当今的艺术发展面临的问题是,怎样从进化论式的所谓“现代性”艺术思维和艺术活动造成的同质化中解脱出来,走向更富于生气的多元化发展。从这种危机中解脱出来的出路不在于简单地复兴古典艺术,而在于从多元性的传统化过程中重新寻找和生成新的艺术精神,给当代艺术的发展赋予个性差异和多元性,因而成为与同质化趋势相抗衡的力量。  相似文献

作为最具代表性的美国华裔作家,谭恩美在第一部小说《喜福会》中探讨了文化身份问题,并揭示了她对文化身份这一问题的深刻理解。在作品中,谭恩美讲述了四位华人母亲和美国女儿之间的冲突以及和解的故事,深刻地揭示了母女们文化身份认同的过程。笔者紧扣文化身份这一主题,尝试应用霍米巴巴的“第三空间”理论以及他对文化身份认同和杂合性概念的阐述,对母女们的文化身份认同过程进行解读,意在为《喜福会》的研究提供一个新的思路和视角,同时,也为华裔和其他移民或族裔群体在全球化背景下的文化身份构建提供一定的启示。  相似文献

翻译文学是一种特殊的文学类型,对它的研究应该立足于其自身普遍的、本质的特征,然而目前人们对翻译文学特征的论述明显不够,甚至往往把它和文学翻译的本质特征混为一谈。本文引入"杂合"概念,论述了杂合性是翻译文学普遍的、本质的特征,是文学翻译具有跨语言、文化"再创作"性的必然结果。杂合性彰显了翻译文学研究不同于一般的文学研究,它本质上是跨文化交流语境中的语言、文学、文化译介研究。杂合性是翻译文学研究的理论基础,对进一步建构翻译文学研究体系具有非常重要的意义。  相似文献

The modern concept of competence comprises not only relevant knowledge and skills, but also a range of personal qualities and the ability to perform adequately and flexibly in well-known and unknown situations. To be up-to-date, the concept of learning must be understood in the same broad sense, and therefore traditional learning theories must be revised. The theory presented is based on two fundamental assumptions. Firstly, that all learning includes two essentially different types of process, namely an external interaction process between the learner and his or her social, cultural and material environment, and an internal psychological process of acquisition and elaboration in which new impulses are connected with the results of prior learning. Secondly, that all learning includes three dimensions, namely, the cognitive dimension of knowledge and skills, the emotional dimension of feelings and motivation, and the social dimension of communication and co-operation—all of which are embedded in a societally situated context. In addition, the approach specifies four levels of learning and deals with what happens when intended learning does not occur. Inside this framework existing learning theories deal with different aspects. Thus the new theory has been constructed as a sort of umbrella, offering an overview and a structure of the landscape of learning which can be applied in both analysing and planning learning processes, both inside and outside of the educational system. The development of the theory is described in detail in my book, The Three Dimensions of Learning, which has been a bestseller in the Scandinavian countries since 1999, and which has now been published in English (Illeris 2002).  相似文献

在后殖民主义视角下,存在着强势文化与弱势文化之间的权力差异,而文化的不平等关系使平衡的对话根本无法实现。以”陌生化”理论为切入点,从后殖民主义的角度研究认为:文化的异质性和文化交流的必要性决定了翻译“杂合”的必然,文化“杂合”具有抵抗强势文化的积极意义。杂合的译文有利于实现弱势文化的非边缘化和多元共存互补的文化全球化目标。  相似文献

Drawing on a longitudinal study of middle-class and working-class girls growing up, this article focuses on those few working-class young women who managed to get to university and face the prospect of a 'professional' career. The authors examine the concept of 'hybridity' as it is used to understand shifts in the constitution of contemporary feminine subjectivities and argue that although hybridity may be a social and cultural fact, in this psychic economy there are no easy hybrids. The authors explore some of the more difficult emotional dynamics in their families that have nevertheless helped sustain their success; of 'never asking for anything', of parents as burdened, of envy, love and pride. Moving into the intellectual domain is a massive shift for working-class young women who do well at school, requiring an internal and external 'makeover'. It is therefore essential to explore the complexities of the losses as well as the gains involved in educational success and upward mobility for working-class young women if we are serious about the project of equality in education. Without a consideration of the psychodynamic processes involved, the deep and enduring failure of the majority of working-class girls and boys will continue unabated.  相似文献

Large‐scale cuts to the education budget were a primary focus for the newly elected State Liberal party in Victoria, Australia in 1992. Northland Secondary College, a Melbourne urban school of 474 students, had been selected for closure. Northland had long defined itself as a ‘community school’, with a strong commitment to and success in meeting the needs of Aboriginal (Koori) students. This local community reacted strongly to news of closure, and for a period of two years resisted the full weight of the State through a series of course procedures, and public defiance. During this period, Northland maintained a Rebel School conducted by volunteer teachers. The school and local community sought to expand the concept of accountability as defined by the State. They directly challenged the increasing trend towards centralizing, and what they perceived as the homogenization of the curriculum. At the heart of core concerns to the school community was a deep commitment to maintain and participate in decisions defining important educational knowledge. It was a staunch defence of local needs. The present corporate model of administrative governance directing State schooling proved inadequate in dealing with the plurality and hybridity of this modern community, and, in particular, one inhabited with urban Aboriginal cultures.  相似文献

We propose a concept of intellectual values as (a) shared within a group and defined by the extent to which intellectual engagement is regarded as worthwhile to the group's interests, (b) supported by an epistemological belief system, and (c) an important dimension of sociocultural practice and learning. A series of studies is described in which assessments of intellectual values and epistemological beliefs were found to show similar patterns of variation across cultural and subcultural groups of parents and children. Such groups may play a role in highlighting to their youth the intrinsic value of intellectual engagement (versus its instrumental value in achieving individual recognition and status). Intrinsically valued intellectual engagement, we suggest, provides the firmest basis for sustaining intellectual motivation through adolescence and into adulthood. Developing mature epistemological understanding, moreover, is key to this enterprise.  相似文献
