MOOC的本质属性是在线课程或者说是网络课程。作为大学的教学改革,关注MOOC的网络学习特性才是MOOC真正的教学价值所在。准确把握MOOC的理念和价值必须深刻理解信息技术学习生态环境下的教与学,必须深刻理解信息技术如何深刻地变革着传统教育。陕西师范大学以MOOC浪潮为契机,加快推进学校本科教学信息化建设,旨在以教育信息化促进教育的创新与变革,创新学校人才培养模式,全面提高人才培养质量,在促进传统教育的转型方面做出了积极的尝试。  相似文献

Abstract

This study draws on the authors’ first-hand experience of designing, developing and delivering (3Ds) a massive open online course (MOOC) entitled ‘Understanding Research Methods’ since 2014, largely but not exclusively for learners in the humanities and social sciences. The greatest challenge facing us was to design an assessment mechanism that was (i) rigorous yet practicable at scale, vis-à-vis over 60,000 students from highly diverse backgrounds; (ii) compatible with the pedagogical orientation of the MOOC provider; and (iii) meaningful to the nature of the course subject. Based on a network analysis of forum interactions and a qualitative analysis of a random sample of 116 research questions proposed by students, we explore how participants’ understanding of research methods developed through a series of carefully sequenced ‘e-tivities’ and ‘open peer assessments’ over the duration of the course. The aim of this study was to consider a model of ‘flipped’ assessment, drawn from elements of ‘paragogy’ and the IR Model that acknowledges and exploits peer learning opportunities that are not routinely captured by completion statistics.  相似文献

The term MOOC, an acronym for massive open online course, has been nearly ubiquitous in recent discussions about online education and distance learning. Some articles have questioned the MOOC's tentative role as “the future of education,” while others have framed it as a disrupter of traditional higher education. Research in earlier years trended toward the ways in which MOOCs may be changing the landscape of higher education. However, in the past two years, greater consideration has been focused on how MOOCs may play a role in the corporate world. The year 2012 may have been deemed “The Year of the MOOC,” but many saw 2014 as “The Year of the Corporate MOOC.” Despite MOOCs reaching their prominence as disrupters of traditional higher education, MOOC providers are now aggressively pursuing opportunities in the corporate sector. This presents a great opportunity for corporations to drive this relatively new learning platform and to tailor it to meet their organizational needs. The potential uses for MOOCs in the corporate world are vast. MOOCs can expand corporate training options, offer new recruiting techniques, and provide innovative marketing and branding channels. This article identifies the features of MOOCs, briefly reviews the history of the MOOC movement from academic MOOCs to corporate MOOCs, and discusses the possibilities for extending the MOOC format to a corporate training and employee development environment.  相似文献

Blended learning (BL) is a popular e-Learning model in higher education that has the potential to take advantage of learning analytics (LA) to support student learning. This study utilized LA to investigate fourth-year undergraduates' (n = 157) use of self-regulated learning (SRL) within the online components of a previously unexamined BL discipline, Music Teacher Education. SRL behaviors were captured unobtrusively in real time through students' interaction with course materials in Moodle. Categorized by function: (1) activating—online access location, day-of-the-week, time-of-day; (2) sustaining—online frequency; and (3) structuring—online regularity and exam review patterns, all six SRL behaviors were revealed to have weak to moderate significant relationships with academic achievement. Results indicated access day-of-the-week and access frequency as the strongest predictors for student success. Findings regarding access regularity when viewed through results from previous SRL-LA research may suggest the importance of this SRL behavior for successful students within several BL discipline areas. In addition, the role of learning design (eg, flipped instruction) in potentially scaffolding students' choices toward specific SRL behaviors, was revealed as an important context for future researchers' consideration.  相似文献

This study examined participants’ learning experiences in the context of a six-week massive open online course (MOOC) in journalism with five thousand students from 137 countries. Three research questions were asked: (1) Who are the students and why are they enrolled in this MOOC?, (2) How much time have the students spent in taking this MOOC and have they completed all the assignments?, and, (3) What have they learned and what aspects of this MOOC do the students find most helpful? Four hundred and nine students responded to a survey and forty-four responded to interview questions. The main findings showed 84% of the participants were working professionals and only 28.9% were from a journalism background. Of those who did not complete the course, lack of time was the top reason. Most participants reported a positive learning experience, but lack of feedback and/or poor quality were reported as negative experiences. The discussion forum was the least liked aspect of the course.  相似文献

As the number of participants in online distance learning courses increases, peer assessment is becoming a popular strategy for evaluating open assignments and for breaking the social isolation surrounding distance education. Yet, the quality and characteristics of peer assessment in massive online courses has received little attention. Hence, this study was set to examine peer feedback quality and grading accuracy in a project-based course. The study applied a sequential exploratory mixed methods design. It included 339 participants who studied the same engineering course, but in three different modes: on-campus (n = 77), small private online course (n = 110), and massive open online course (MOOC) (n = 152). Content analysis of feedback comments identified four categories: reinforcement, statement, verification and elaboration, arranged in an ascending scale of cognitive ability. The findings indicated that the MOOC participants provided more feedback comments and volunteered to assess more projects than their counterparts did. However, the on-campus students provided higher quality feedback and their peer grading was better correlated with the grades assigned by the teaching assistants.  相似文献

Informal learning in blended and online settings plays an increasingly important role in the continuous professional development of individuals. Yet, how do individuals engage into these types of activities? We argue that social capital theory can provide valuable insights into how people behave and decide to take part in (in)formal learning. Using social network analysis, we provide empirical evidence on an informal learning activity, where participants collaboratively created knowledge on wiki sites on a predefined set of topics. Our results show that there are three types of active participants in these types of informal learning activities, namely leaders, collaborators and lone editors. These findings provide valuable insights for other, similar activities that aim at enhancing the professional development of individuals.  相似文献

This study investigated the distribution of incentives (e.g., certificates, badges) for massive open online course (MOOC) completion, and relationships between incentives and MOOC outcomes. Participants were 779 MOOC students internationally who participated in at least 303 different MOOCs offered by at least 12 providers. MOOC participants most commonly intended to receive, and in actuality received, free and paid course certificates of completion; other incentives (e.g., digital badges, postsecondary credits) were far less common. In addition, MOOC participants' intentions to receive both free and paid certificates were consistently and positively related to perceived learning and course completion, net other factors. 基于MOOC平台、在线直播平台、沟通群等辅助教学工具,提出基于MOOC平台和直播平台相结合的网络混合教学模式实施方案。通过课前、课中、课后等环节阐述网络教学模式课前准备、MOOC教学、直播教学、项目实践、课程思政、成绩评价等实施步骤。介绍了网络混合教学模式流程,通过此教学模式实现网络化、远程化、分层次、个性化教学。实践表明,学生到课率提高10%,成绩提高5%,达到预期教学效果,对于响应教育部“利用好网课” “停课不停学”号召有很好的教学示范作用。  相似文献

Many diverse forces are motivating institutions of higher education, particularly business schools, to develop and deliver education via the Internet. As higher education institutions explore this opportunity, the question of how courses and degree programs should be designed for effective online delivery via the Internet is a nontrivial concern and challenge. To address this concern and challenge, this paper articulates, defines, and justifies a typology consisting of four types of online distance education that can be pursued by institutions of higher education. The four online distance education types—Overview Model, Overview Model with Feedback, Technical‐Skills Model, and Managerial Learning Model—can be differentiated along a number of content‐related, delivery‐related, and learning‐related issues and have applicability at various educational levels. In addition, the paper highlights and discusses five key lessons for institutions to consider in their desire to launch online distance education initiatives. These lessons provide insights not only for launch success but also for the ongoing sustainability of online distance education.  相似文献

We have developed an interactive case-based online network (ICON) that provides a new learning environment and integrates the student's thinking across the different concentration tracks of one of Harvard's interfaculty science initiatives. ICON takes advantage of this cross-disciplinary, undergraduate curriculum as a model system to bring a compelling, integrative focus to bear on reshaping how Harvard students learn neuroscience. ICON contains 9 learning modules specific to each case: Case, Working Papers, Blackboard, Neuroimaging, Research Programs and Trials, Decision Tree, Learning Objectives, Virtual Contact, and Brainstorm. Modules allow the student to get away from interpreting vast amounts of available information, move toward selecting useful information, recognize discriminating findings, and build a conceptual understanding of real and meaningful problems in neuroscience. The result is that ICON introduces a new landscape within the academic curriculum where the active participation of faculty and students effectively intersects and captures an immediate, integrative learning experience for the student. The benchmark of ICON is the time spent by students and faculty to create a user-defined learning network that engages faculty to participate in the students' learning and transforms the way the student thinks.  相似文献

为了解我国大学通识MOOC课程论坛的交互使用现状及存在的问题,选取中国大学MOOC六门文科和理科通识课程,从论坛交互数据、时间进程、教师参与度和社会交互网络,以及帖子内容的角度进行量化和质性分析,即用社会网络分析和内容分析法对师生交互结构特点、论坛讨论水平及特点进行分析。调查结果表明,文科教师在组织讨论、设置讨论主题方面表现突出,学生对论坛的交互相对比较积极,活跃度较高,学生之间的交流较多;理科课程论坛以教师主导为主,学生提出问题相对较多,但学生间交互非常有限,学生更渴望教师能够积极参与并讲解;助教对于论坛的交互数量和交互活跃度起着重要作用,但缺乏对讨论区主题的引导和组织。最后对文理通识课程论坛交互实践提出可行性建议与优化策略。  相似文献

大数据时代的到来,为各领域带来了新的数据研究方法,人们开始将数据作为一种基础性资源并注重研究其潜在价值,引导研究从单纯关注因果关系向关注相关关系转变。教育领域大规模开放网络课程的诞生及发展,在产生的海量学习数据的同时,为学习分析及教育数据挖掘提供了研究基础。作为一种新型在线课程资源,MOOC使开放教育从单纯的资源共享转变到课程与教学模式的革新,通过对学习者在线学习过程的追踪和实时分析,实现个体层面的课程定制,对我国高校教学模式改革提供了一定启示。  相似文献

大规模开放在线课程(MOOC)为全世界学习者提供了宝贵的学习机会,在线课程的低完成率给学习者带来巨大的困扰,了解学习的困难和提供学习支持对学习者极其重要。以Coursera平台上在线课程《红楼梦》的学习者为调查对象,通过问卷调查与论坛数据分析,结果显示MOOC学习困难集中在内容理解难度大,时间投入多、自我管理欠缺、互评标准把握不准和平台操作等方面,学习者希望从推送相关资料、增加视频交流、提供随时笔记、反馈个性化学习体验等方面得到学习支持。  相似文献

大规模在线开放课程(MOOC)是近年来远程开放教育领域出现的一种新兴在线学习模式。它体现了以学习者为中心的教学理念,改变了传统网络课程内容固定、结构化的特征,使学习者获取知识的途径从简单线性转向复杂化、网络化。学习管理系统是远程开放教育的主要媒介,当前大多数学习管理系统框架主要面向传统网络课程,仅支持学习者对课程知识的单方面访问,对以关联主义学习理论为基础,具有更多交互性的MOOC课程模式支持不够充分,因而有必要对当前学习管理系统框架进行改进。面向MOOC的学习管理系统框架,在已有的LTSA模型基础上增加了交互代理和知识代理两个元件,使学习资源数据库的知识可以随课程的进展不断更新,学习者之间可以构建学习网络,通过不同途径获取知识。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Researchers have been interested in classifying massive open online course (MOOC) students based on their learning behaviors. However, less attention has been paid to the cognitive attributes associated with various learning behaviors. In this study, we propose a conceptual model that links MOOC students’ observable learning behaviors to their latent attributes (i.e., individual learning versus interactive learning). Using students’ behavior data from a MOOC, we performed a cognitive diagnostic analysis to identify the students’ learning profiles and to determine how these profiles related to their course achievement. We found that a large portion of the students performed individual learning whereas only a very small portion of them overtly performed interactive learning. In addition, the students who performed interactive learning were more likely to pass the course with distinction than the students who did not show this attribute. The results of this study have important implications for improving students’ learning in MOOCs. Further, the study provides a good demonstration of how to use clickstream process data for psychometric analysis.  相似文献

本文应用数据挖掘软件Weka,对北京大学2015年在Coursera平台上线的一门课程中学员的网上学习行为数据进行了相关分析。对全体学员和有学习成绩的学员的学习行为分析结果均表明:学员的学习成绩与课程网页浏览次数、平时测验总成绩、论坛发帖数、论坛回帖得票呈正相关关系。对无学习成绩的学员学习行为分析结果表明:他们的论坛讨论参与度不高,不重视平时测验。出现这个现象的原因可能是他们不关注考试成绩和证书,只关注学习过程。基于以上数据挖掘结果,为了取得较好的教学效果,我们建议MOOC课程应该积极引导学生参与论坛的发帖,重视课程网页和课件的设计,同时可考虑改进平时测验的内容和方式,关注学习者的需求,以便引起学员注意,让学员积极主动地完成测验。  相似文献
