ABSTRACTService blueprinting is a method for designing, assessing, and improving services. This article provides a practical overview of the service blueprinting process for library technology services. We begin by outlining the recent conversation around library technologies, service design, and service blueprinting. We then detail an iterative case study for the creation process of a service blueprint, followed by a discussion of the service insights and improvements that resulted from this activity. We conclude by offering a set of recommendations for creating and analyzing service blueprints. Ultimately, the service blueprint is a useful tool for understanding the operation of a service, and for situating that service within a broader and interconnected library ecosystem. 相似文献

The functioning properties of a university library in regards to its provision of electronic service to readers have been studied throughout extensive experimental exploitation. Additionally, the evolution of the automated library information system of the N.E. Bauman Yauza library at MSTU is considered. Requirements are proposed to achieve an effective automated system for the processing, storing, and searching of electronic information resources in a university’s library based on certain identified properties. The following key principles necessary for this type of system to function are developed: the stream typology for the completion of a modern university library, a uniform model of electronic information resources, the architecture of a subsystem for presenting and searching electronic resources, organizational methods for processing the most commonly received types of incoming documents for a library with the purpose of organizing effective electronic service for readers. 相似文献

AbstractSulphuration is the main destroyer of marble, producing imaginary (not true) patina. Other reasons for the discoloration of marbles are discussed. Magnesium silicate saturated with de-ionized water is a safe and simple cleaner. Sintolite is advocated as an adhesive for marble rather than the general more fluid epoxy resins. Solid polyvinyl acetate is strongly advocated as the basis for sma1l repairs to internaIly housed marble. The consolidation of marble is discussed and a method for internal exhibits recommended. Conservation of unbaked clay is touched upon, and a method for the repair of terracotta suggested together with a process for the reproduction of a glazed frieze using a latex mould and epoxy-reinforced plaster casts. A few remarks are made concerning the dangers of cleaning alabaster with water. The commentary is of a general nature and is not intended as a strict blueprint for any particular object. 相似文献

This article describes a project using a student-created LibGuide in conjunction with a literature review assignment for a research course. This collaborative project between a librarian and a professor of International Education was designed and implemented as an avenue for teaching information literacy and to encourage use of library resources. The methodology for the assignment is presented, and the results of the project are discussed in terms of the final products and student reviews. Given the proliferation of open-access, non-profit publication outlets for cultural studies scholars, what are the possibilities for a journal like Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies, which remains tied to a print model and a for-profit publisher? This short essay considers publication of critical work as both an intellectual exercise and a strategic activity, and argues for the necessity of attending to both aspects of scholars' labor. Understanding publication as a professional strategy also implies particular ethical and political responsibilities for a critical journal that exists as an association journal, and it implies particular responsibilities for reviewers and editors. 相似文献

This study examined the need for cognition as a mediator between aggressive communication traits and tolerance for disagreement. Previous research suggests that argumentativeness is a positive predictor of tolerance for disagreement, while verbal aggressiveness is a negative predictor of tolerance for disagreement. Our findings indicate that need for cognition positively mediates the relationship between argumentativeness and tolerance for disagreement, as well as verbal aggressiveness and tolerance for disagreement. 相似文献

This paper examines the differential effects of green appeals for low involvement and high involvement products. Through a controlled experiment conducted in China, our study demonstrates that for low involvement products, an ad with a green appeal, compared to a similar one without a green appeal, elicits a more favorable consumer attitude toward the ad and the brand. This is true regardless of the level of consumer environmental concern. This study also shows that for high involvement products, there is no interaction effect between green appeals and product involvement. In addition, for consumers with high levels of environmental concern, an ad with a green appeal yields greater purchase intention than a similar one without a green appeal for low involving products. Such an effect is absent for consumers with low levels of environmental concern. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings are also discussed. 相似文献
