Critical thinking is a unifying goal of modern education. While past research has mostly examined the efficacy of a single instructional approach to teaching critical thinking, recent literature has begun discussing mixed teaching approaches. The present study examines three modes of instruction, featuring the direct instruction approach and the inquiry-based approach in different sequences and proportions, in enhancing Chinese secondary student’s critical thinking performance. A total of 651 Grade 12 students participated in an 18-hour intervention with pre- and post-intervention measures on critical thinking performance and critical thinking dispositions. Specifically, critical thinking assessments utilizing different response format were used. Those who received training showed greater improvement on at least one of the critical thinking assessments compared to those who received no training. Participants’ performances with regards to different critical thinking assessments are discussed. Benefits of adopting more than one instructional approach to teaching critical thinking are highlighted. 相似文献

This study investigated the effects of personalized instruction on the achievement and attitudes of Taiwanese students on
two-step mathematics word problems. A total of 136 fourth-graders in a Taiwanese public school participated in the study.
Subjects initially completed a Student Survey on which they chose their favorite foods, sports, stores, classmates, and other
selections. The most popular items were then used to create personalized math word problems for the pretest, personalized
instructional program, and posttest. Subjects were blocked by ability based on their pretest scores and were randomly assigned
within ability levels to either a personalized or nonpersonalized version of the print-based instructional program. After
finishing the program, subjects completed a student attitude survey and the posttest. A repeated-measures univariate analysis
of variance revealed that subjects in the personalized treatment made significantly greater pretest-to-posttest gains than
those in the nonpersonalized treatment. Subjects also performed significantly better on the personalized pretest and posttest
problems than on the nonpersonalized problems. Personalized subjects and higher-ability students both had significantly more
positive attitudes toward the instructional program than did their nonpersonalized and lower-ability counterparts.

Photovoltaic technology offers a sustainable solution to the problem of soaring global energy demands. Recently, metal halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted worldwide interest because of their high power conversion efficiency of 25.5% and great potential in becoming a disruptive technology in the photovoltaic industry. The transition from research to commercialization requires advancements of scalable deposition methods for both perovskite and charge transporting thin films. Herein, we share our view regarding the current challenges to fabrication of PSCs by printing techniques. We focus particularly on ink technologies, and summarize the strategies for printing uniform, pinhole-free perovskite films with good crystallinity. Moreover, the stability of perovskite solar modules is discussed and analyzed. We believe this review will be advantageous in the area of printable electronic devices. 相似文献
