Recruiting Principals to Lead Low-performing Schools: Effects on Job Attractiveness

This study addressed recruiting principals into low performing schools. A sample (N = 619) of principals, assistant principals, central office administrators, school counselors, and teacher-leaders from the 29th largest school district in the United States role-played as applicants for principal vacancies at schools classified as low-performing based on results of standardized student achievement tests. The study had an experimental design and involved use of a recruitment simulation. Rating jobs depicted on simulated principal recruitment announcements, principals and assistant principals rated the job highest while school counselors rated the jobs lowest. Among the teacher-leaders, teacher-administrative interns rated the job higher than did highly skilled educators or resource teachers. Implications for recruitment practice and future evaluation research are discussed.  相似文献

基于运动教育模式下体育竞赛在教学中的核心价值探析

针对目前学生的体质健康出现下滑的状况,对西方的运动教育模式进行总结,发现学生在参与体育竞赛的热情远高于常规的体育课,学生对体育竞赛的兴趣更加浓厚,而对于传统的三基教学模式,学生对学习的热情不仅不够高,并且不能很好地保证学生参与的主体性,学习的整体效果不佳。而体育竞赛在学校的开展过程中,学生可以依据自身特点,找到自己的兴趣所在,树立自信心。本文从体育竞赛的促学、促练、促育三个方面进行探析,找到体育竞赛在教学实践中课堂内外一体化改革过程中的良性作用。通过对体育竞赛核心价值的分析,为学生更好地参与体育竞赛提供理论依据使体育竞赛在学校体育中发挥积极作用,提高学生体质健康,促进学生的全面发展。  相似文献   

青海青南地区和谐社会中藏族农牧民参与体育锻炼的调查与分析——以黄南、玉树、果洛为例

采用调查、问卷、实地考察、文献资料调研等方法对青海省青南地区黄南州、玉树州、果洛州藏族农牧民参与体育锻炼现状进行调查。结果表明:青南地区经常参加体育锻炼的藏族农牧民各占24%、33%、26%。经常参加体育锻炼的比例不高,很少参加锻炼的比例占到了一半以上,根本不参加体育锻炼果洛州最高占18%,其次是黄南州占10%、玉树州占7%。造成上述现象的原因有:1.藏族农牧民对体育锻炼的意识认识不足;2.受气候、环境的影响,高海拔,空气稀薄含氧量低,在缺氧的情况下会出现运动欲望下降的现象;3.对藏族农牧民体育的组织管理和指导比较薄弱。  相似文献   

Anthropometric profiles of elite older triathletes in the Ironman Brazil compared with those of young Portuguese triathletes and older Brazilians

The objective of this study was to describe the anthropometric profiles of elite older triathletes participating in the 2009 Ironman Brazil and to compare their somatotype, anthropometric and body composition characteristics with those of elite young triathletes and older non-athletes. The sample consisted of 64 males, divided into three groups: (1) older triathletes (n = 17), (2) young triathletes (n = 24), and (3) older non-athletes (n = 23). Somatotype was analysed according to the Carter and Heath ( 1990 ) method. Body mass index, sum of four skinfolds, percentage body fat, body fat mass, and fat-free mass were also estimated. Older non-athletes had higher endomorphy, sum of four skinfolds, fat percentage, and body fat mass than the athletes. Older athletes who participated in the Ironman and elite young triathletes had higher fat-free mass than older non-athletes. Older triathletes and older non-athletes were considered mainly endomorphic mesomorphs and young triathletes mainly ectomorphic mesomorphs. The findings that characterize the anthropometric profile of athletes in this sports modality could be used as a reference.  相似文献
