Hadoop is a well‐known big data system and a subject covered in many big data courses. This article describes two role play games for teaching the two fundamental components in the Hadoop framework, MapReduce and Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS). In the games, students form teams and play different roles as a part of a Hadoop cluster. The games are designed to let students collaborate with peers in the same way as MapReduce and HDFS components collaborate to perform computing jobs in a Hadoop cluster. Utilizing a computer communication channel, the games are designed to let students quickly and effectively understand typical MapReduce and HDFS operations. Survey results from students in two big data classes show that the games effectively improve learning outcome in understanding MapReduce and HDFS workflow and the Hadoop framework in general. Students appear more engaged in class activities and communicate with peers more often.  相似文献

Role conflict stems from the established authoritarian role assigned to child protective service workers in addition to their helping role. Workers must conduct investigations, make a determination as to whether cases are founded or unfounded, confront the parents with those findings then tell the family they are there to help. Few workers are convinced that parents see this type of intervention as helpful.Overcoming these doubts and conflicts is not easy. High worker turnover and burnout can often be attributed to the workers not having been given the opportunity to deal with these conflicts. This paper presents five options which if utilized could lessen role confusion: (1) separating the functions of intake and ongoing services; (2) strengthen training and supervisory support; (3) formation of multidicipline teams; (4) unit staffing of cases; and (5) using police for investigations.  相似文献

虚拟经济作为一个独立的经济学概念,最早产生于十九世纪,自由资本主义时期。在20世纪80年代以前,虚经济无论从规模,还是从表现形式都远逊于实体经济。20世纪80年代以来,世界经济的格局发生了巨大的变化,主要工业国家和新兴市场国家的虚拟经济得到了极大的发展,虚拟经济规模急剧增大。资本的虚拟化程度越来越高,虚拟资本的形式也越来越丰富。虚拟经济日益成为现代经济中一个决定性的组成部分,其经济学内涵和外延得到了空前的拓展。本文试图从经济学角度总结虚拟经济的内涵,表现特征以及主要存在形式。分析虚拟经济对现代经济的积极作用和消极影响。针对现阶段我国宏观经济现状,探讨如何不失时机地发展虚拟经济,防范和控制我国经济的泡沫风险,保障经济快速、健康、持久地发展。  相似文献

Abstract

This article focuses on the double role of the academic action researcher working as facilitator and researcher in democratic professional development projects. The inquiry is based on three partnership projects: ‘research circles’ in Sweden, ‘dialogue conferences’ in Norway and ‘tailored professional development’ in Finland. In a self-study and through the lens of practice architectures, we, as action researchers, explore how our practices are enabled and constrained in, as well as are enabling and constraining, professional development partnerships with teachers and educational leaders. A critical perspective is provided on how and what democratic practices evolve. The inquiry opens up understandings about how the academic action researcher’s practices entails multi-faceted ways of working to be able to accomplish different and somehow contradictory objectives, yet at the same time enacting democratic working methods. Furthermore, the act of recognition as a connecting aspect between prefiguring arrangements and evolving practices will be elaborated on to supplement perspectives offered by the theory of practice architectures.  相似文献

Abstract

Purpose: To identify various organizational climatic factors responsible for role performances of veterinary officers in Andhra Pradesh, India.

Design/methodology/approach: Study was conducted in 11 selected districts. Data were collected from 220 respondents through a pretested interview schedule and subjected to correlation and multiple regression to draw valid inferences. Organizational climate was measured by using the index specially prepared for the study.

Findings: Around 76% of the respondents perceived that the organizational climate prevailing in the department of animal husbandry was favorable. Leadership, teamwork and trust had significant contribution towards perception of organizational climate. The respondents were least satisfied with motivation, decision-making and goal setting components of the organizational climate. The model with seven variables out of 16 independent variables was a good fit with R square of 85.59%. Work motivation, persistence disposition, participativeness, job satisfaction, physical facilities availability and timeliness of availability of facilities were found to have significant positive influence while job stress had significant negative influence on perceived organizational climate.

Practical implications: This investigation has an organizational and social significance for development of livestock organizations not only in India, but also to other SAARC countries as well.

Originality/value: No empirical evidence on inter-relation between organizational climate and job performance of veterinarians is available at present in Andhra Pradesh.  相似文献

Role negotiation in stepfamilies is an important process that involves and affects all family members. Although researchers have focused on stepparent role development and the influence of stepparents' behaviors, less attention has been given to the influence and experience of stepchildren in role development. This investigation examined the contribution of stepchildren to the type of stepparent roles developed in stepfamilies, as well as stepchildren's experience of role ambiguity and the impact of stepchildren's role content and clarity on relational quality. Fifty-two stepchildren completed questionnaires about their relationships and interaction with their stepparent during adolescence. Findings indicate that stepchildren's autonomy and connection-seeking behaviors predict stepchildren's reports of stepparent role types, stepchildren's reports of stepparents' warmth displays predict stepchildren's role ambiguity, and stepchildren's behavior and role ambiguity relate to their relational satisfaction. Suggestions for future research in this area are proposed.  相似文献

The present study explores the role negotiations and identity of volunteers at a large Southwestern pop-culture convention. A sensemaking perspective was used to understand how volunteers retrospectively interpret their experiences as volunteers in this temporary organization. Data collection included participant observation and interviews of 26 volunteers. Data were analyzed using constant comparative analysis. Three role negotiation categories were identified: learning roles, negotiating roles, and making sense of roles. Ineffective communication during role learning and negotiation created ambiguity and uncertainty for volunteers. Volunteers identified with the convention primarily through communicative interactions with patrons but also through communicating with staff or by wearing artifacts (e.g., clothing). Results suggest modifying sensemaking theory to recognize individual as well as collective sensemaking.  相似文献
