Comparison and Comparability: Fitness Tracking Between Youths with Different Physical Activity Levels

This study compared a three-year tracking of health-related physical fitness between two comparable samples of six graders that enrolled either in a PE4life middle school (n?=?154) or another school with a traditional PE program (n?=?93) in the United States. For the cohort, the FITNESSGRAM^TM (Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research, 1992 Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research. 1992. The Prudential FITNESSGRAM^®test administration manual, Dallas, TX: The Cooper Institute.  [Google Scholar]) battery was administered twice with a three-year interval, and moderate and vigorous physical activity levels in PE classes were assessed. Fitness tracking then was assessed with six statistical techniques and compared between the two samples. Students in the PE4life Program demonstrated significantly higher moderate and vigorous physical activity level (p < .001) in PE classes and improved significantly more in most fitness measures at follow-up (ps < .05–.001) than those in the traditional program. Results of tracking assessed with Spearman correlations, Kappa statistics, and Kendall's tau-b did not reflect the significant differences in fitness changes between the two samples, whereas those assessed using stability in extreme quartiles, changes in percentage of students in at-risk groups, and odds ratios reflected the significant differences in the fitness changes between the two samples. The last three tracking methods identify differences in fitness changes in addition to assessing tracking stability and are recommended in fitness tracking research.  相似文献   

Cushioning and lateral stability functions of cloth sport shoes

In this study, we evaluated the protective functions of cloth sport shoes, including cushioning and lateral stability. Twelve male students participated in the study (mean ± s: age 12.7 ± 0.4 years, mass 40.7 ± 5.9 kg, height 1.50 ± 0.04 m). Cloth sport shoes, running shoes, basketball shoes, cross-training shoes, and barefoot conditions were investigated in random sequence. Human pendulum and cutting movement tests were used to assess cushioning performance and lateral stability, respectively. For cushioning, the running shoes (2.06 body weight, BW) performed the best, while the cross-training shoes (2.30 BW) and the basketball shoes (2.37 BW) both performed better than the cloth sport shoes (2.55 BW) and going barefoot (2.63 BW). For the lateral stability test, range of inversion–eversion was found to be from 3.6 to 4.9°, which was far less than that for adult participants (> 20°). No significant differences were found between conditions. All conditions showed prolonged durations from foot-strike to maximum inversion (66–95 ms), which was less vigorous than that for adult participants ( < 40 ms) and was unlikely to evoke intrinsic stability failure. In conclusion, the cloth sport shoe showed inferior cushioning capability but the same lateral stability as the other sports shoes for children.  相似文献

为实现船舶节能增效的目标,在满足船舶浮态、稳性和纵强度要求下,提出一种空船优化压载状态的算法,建立空船压载状态多目标优化计算的通用非线性数学模型.基于通用优化模型求解软件LINGO和散货船装载软件SEACOS,通过一个完整计算实例验证算法和模型.此项研究表明,该方法可在确保船舶安全的前提下,减少船舶在空船压载航行时的水下阻力,改善船舶耐波性,延长船舶使用寿命,具有实用价值.  相似文献

内江城市防护绿地土壤抗蚀性研究

选取内江市防护绿地中林地、草地、灌丛作为研究对象.通过对土壤容重、机械组成、＞0.25mm干筛团聚体含量、抗蚀指数、水稳性指数等指标研究城市不同防护绿地对土壤抗蚀性的影响.结果表明：三种样地土壤抗蚀性都较低,其抗蚀性都随着时间的增加呈下降趋势;在机械组成中三种样地都以砂粒占主导,土壤含沙量较高;土壤干筛团聚体主要集中在2～5mm和1～2mm这两个粒径范围内,在5～7mm、1～2mm、0.5～1mm、0.25～0.5mm粒径范围内其差异不显著,在1～2mm和＞0.25mm林地和草地与灌丛的差异显著;三种样地的土壤水稳性指数变化与其抗蚀指数趋于一致,水稳性指数越高,抗蚀指数也越高.表层土壤的抗蚀性大小排列为：灌丛＞林地＞草地;亚表层土壤的抗蚀性大小排列为灌丛＞草地＞林地.  相似文献

霸权国自古就存在,但当今世界上唯一的全球霸权国就是美国。美国霸权最大的不同之处在于其霸权的制度性。美国制度霸权的特点是其霸权与国际制度相辅相成。国际制度所提供的国际公共物品,是指有纯粹的或一定的非排他性、非竞争性而为所有成员国（组织）或部分参与成员国（组织）所享用的各种制度性体系,包括国际秩序、国际合作、国际安全、国际汇率稳定等方面。国际制度既是国际公共物品的一种供给形式,也是一种特殊形式的国际公共物品。现今国际制度所提供的国际公共物品基本上是以美国霸权为基础,另一方面构成了美国霸权及其维持的主要基石。  相似文献
