In this study, we use a mixed-method systematic literature review of articles that include African American counselor education doctoral student participants in the research. From this corpus of inquiry, we provide an opportunity for counselor education researchers to lead the way with inclusive scholarship and the use of strengths-based frameworks. Apprehension to engagement in the classroom: perceptions of Black males in the community college

This study presents selected findings drawn from a larger investigation of Black male students in the community college. In the larger study, qualitative interviews were conducted with 28 Black males attending a public two-year college in the southwestern United States. The focus of the larger study was on identifying factors which, from the perspectives of students, affected their academic success. Academic success referred primarily to students’ grade point averages or achievement and secondarily to continuation towards students’ self-proclaimed collegiate goals. A large portion of Black male participants in this study indicated that academic disengagement served to negatively affect their achievement in the community college. Students discussed academic disengagement as a reluctance to fully engage as active agents in their own academic development through necessary interactions.  相似文献

影片《为奴十二年》具有两大特色：其一,以朴实而精致的方式再现了所罗门＆#183;诺瑟普为奴十二载的凄楚人生,以及当时以帕琪为代表的黑人女性在受宠与受虐间遭受男女主人双重折磨的为奴命运,从而既充分地展现了19世纪中叶美国南方小型农场中黑人男女为奴之旅的差异性,又揭示了其相似性---无法仰望上苍。其二,以详实而平淡的方式呈现了为奴体制下多态的黑、白个体,以及他们在处理主/奴、白/黑二元对立关系时的差异性与同一性,从而既巧妙地描绘了人性的万花筒,又折射出奴隶制体制下百态人性的真实语境---黑、白个体差异的有限性。正是这种有限性确保了奴隶制的长久性,因为它维持了二元对立的不可逾越性。  相似文献

Fit and phat: Black college women and their relationship with physical activity,obesity and campus recreation facilities

The purpose of this paper was to recognize factors that contribute to Black female college students adoption of physically active behaviors. In addition, this paper acknowledges the prevalence of obesity in the United States for Black women, and examines the relationship between body mass index, physical activity and use of campus recreation facilities and programs. The study is approached from an intersectionality lens, utilizing a quantitative and qualitative questionnaire to capture and analyze the perceptions and voice of Black female undergraduate students (n=49) attending a predominantly White institution in the southeast United States. Recognizing the intersectionality of race, gender and class, employing the theoretical frame of Black feminist thought was appropriate to capture the ‘multiple jeopardies’ in their daily experiences. The findings revealed 75.5% of the participants were in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for physical activity; however, 77.1% utilize the campus recreation facility fewer than two days per week. Moreover, the findings suggest the sociocultural environment as the most influential factor on Black female collegiate students’ relationship with physical activity, obesity awareness and campus recreation facility usage.  相似文献

《黑猫》是美国作家埃德加·爱伦·坡(Edgar Allan Poe)创作的一篇惊悚心理小说,采用第一人称叙事,所讲述的事件折射出了小说主人公心理和行为上的畸形变态。因为叙述者的人格与隐含作者的道德价值观相背离,所以小说的主人公,即叙述者成为了一个"不可靠叙述者"。同时作者也运用了反讽与夸张的写作手法增强了小说叙述者的不可靠性,如此精心的安排,使得小说收到了很好的艺术效果。  相似文献

建立一种用于分析正山小种红茶中茶黄素的液相色谱-串联质谱法,利用多重反应监测模式对正山小种红茶中茶黄素进行定性和定量分析.色谱柱为反相C18柱,流动相为0.1%甲酸和乙腈,柱温35℃.分析结果表明:方法检出限为6.6 ng/g,相对标准偏差小于4.08%,回收率为91.2%～102.5%,该方法简便、快速、准确,适用于红茶中茶黄素的分析.  相似文献

英国当代作家默多克有着颇为独特的小说批评观念,其丰富的小说创作吸收了以往各个时期的小说创作思想和技巧。尤其需要注意的是,默多克小说文本中的对话性形式可以视为她一些小说的突出特征。《黑王子》的外结构与内结构的巧妙设置,类似元小说的侵入式话语,叙述语式中的对话性形式充分体现了文本的对话性,这些特征使《黑王子》成为一个＂众声喧哗,疑点重重＂的后现代文本。  相似文献
