Sexuality education in India: examining the rhetoric,rethinking the future

Comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) has been recognised globally as key to helping young people assert their sexual and reproductive rights. In India too, there is growing awareness of the importance of providing CSE not only to reduce sexually transmitted infections, unintended pregnancies and abortions but also to teach important life skills. Simultaneously, lack of political will and conflicting interests among certain religious and political factions have ensured that no uniform CSE curriculum has been implemented throughout the country. This paper analyses the Adolescent Education Programme teacher curriculum as revised in 2009–2010 by the National Council of Educational Research and Training and the United Nations Population Fund. It highlights some of the opportunities presented by the curriculum and argues that despite its intent of providing relevant sexuality education for young people, the language of the curriculum is vague, thus potentially exacerbating confusion, and excluding people who do not conform to societal stereotypes of sex, gender, and ability. In order to be holistic, any CSE programme must be inclusive, cater to diverse needs and present content in a rights-based language without adding to the socio-cultural context of mystery and shame attached to sexuality.  相似文献   

The Power of the Pen: Writing Mentorship and Chicana/o M.A. Students

This article draws on my experience as an adjunct professor in the Master's program of the Department of Mexican-American Studies at a large public university in California. Seeing my students’ struggles with writing, I conceived of a set of practices of writing mentorship anchored by a series of writing workshops held in Summer 2012. In this article, I document the pedagogy and content of these writing workshops in order to think about the unique struggles and opportunities Chicana/o Master's students face in the writing process and to provide an outline for other instructors interested in developing a practice of writing mentorship.  相似文献

Videos can be used as didactic tools for self‐learning under several circumstances, including those cases in which students are responsible for the development of this resource as an audiovisual notebook. We compared students' and teachers' perceptions regarding the main features that an audiovisual notebook should include. Four questionnaires with items about information, images, text and music, and filmmaking were used to investigate students' (n = 115) and teachers' perceptions (n = 28) regarding the development of a video focused on a histological technique. The results show that both students and teachers significantly prioritize informative components, images and filmmaking more than text and music. The scores were significantly higher for teachers than for students for all four components analyzed. The highest scores were given to items related to practical and medically oriented elements, and the lowest values were given to theoretical and complementary elements. For most items, there were no differences between genders. A strong positive correlation was found between the scores given to each item by teachers and students. These results show that both students' and teachers' perceptions tend to coincide for most items, and suggest that audiovisual notebooks developed by students would emphasize the same items as those perceived by teachers to be the most relevant. Further, these findings suggest that the use of video as an audiovisual learning notebook would not only preserve the curricular objectives but would also offer the advantages of self‐learning processes. 西安市空气质量评价分析

针对西安市的环境质量问题,首先分析和对比空气污染指数(API)与环境质量指数(AQI)对西安市空气质量的影响.建立AQI与API比较模型,得到两种标准基本一致,但两个指标的值有所不同,因此得出需实施新标准的结论.其次分析影响西安市空气质量的原因.运用灰色关联度等方法,得出结论即工业污染为主要原因,其次是交通、生活污染.最后根据问题的分析和模型的求解结果,对环境空气质量的监测与控制对西安市环保部门提出均衡监测点的选取及其规模大小、环保部门应加强宣传力度、鼓励政府调整能源产业结构等具有建设性的意见.  相似文献

《汤姆叔叔的小屋》中的宗教情结是小说的显著特征。以小说不同时期的三个汉译本为例,采用描述性与解释性相结合的方法,对比分析小说中宗教词汇的翻译。结果表明:宗教词汇的理解与解释深受译者特定的历史阶段和自我视域的影响,是译者发挥主观能动性从而和原作者以原作为中心的动态阐释过程。  相似文献   

基于VBA的稿件采编系统中批量信息的修改

在使用稿件采编系统时,经常要对稿件信息、审稿专家信息等数据库中单个信息进行定向修改和补充,有时还要批量地进行这一操作,但这是一个重复的过程。为了将这一重复过程简单化,同时为了在定向修改信息时不影响其他信息的完整性,利用VBA语言编写了Excel中2个宏程序,一个以上传DOI号为例来对三才采编系统的已发表的稿件信息界面进行修改,另一个宏程序以修改专家信息为例对"专家信息修改界面"进行定向修改。使用上述宏程序在《南京林业大学学报(自然科学版)》的采编系统中上传了4 317篇文章的DOI号,对181位专家的信息进行了修改。实践证明,通过这些操作完善了稿件采编系统的内容信息,提高了编辑工作效率。  相似文献
