Early childhood programs have been in the forefront of implementing a multiracial curriculum. Early childhood educators need to extend these approaches to support and embrace multiracial and multiethnic children. These are children whose biological parents crossed traditional U.S. Census categories to have children. To meet the unique needs of these children and their families, early childhood educators need to engage in staff training, provide classroom materials, work closely with parents, and challenge the single race approach to multicultural education.  相似文献

We explored the relationship between master's-level counseling students' (N = 285) disability competence, disability-related life experience, and multicultural course completion. Results indicated disability-related life experience and multicultural course completion may differentially affect self-perceived disability competence. Texas Cowboy Boots: America's Material Culture Melting Pot

Cowboy boots are some of the most recognizable dress icons in the United States and symbolize the American West. The mythology of these material culture objects has been built over hundreds of years in many types of oral and written narratives. The purpose of this study was to combine secondary sources focusing on specific dimensions of cowboy boots with interviews of bootmakers and firm owners, developing a clearer understanding of the multicultural evolution of this material culture icon. Results indicate that although most bootmakers are aware of the multicultural origins of cowboy boots, they do not possess a complete comprehension of the origins and development of this material culture icon.  相似文献

文章从多元认知的角度讨论如何看待非汉字圈留学生汉字书写过程的问题。我们将留学生汉字书写过程经摄像观察再转为文字,历时3年。摄像记录包括从短时记忆（看字写字）到长时记忆（心理词汇的提取）的汉字书写过程。观察发现每个留学生都有与中国人不同的汉字书写方式,但这种方式不影响最后的汉字成品正确,也不影响学生汉语水平的提高。那么,如何来看待这种书写方式？文章提出：从多元认知的角度来客观分析留学生汉字书写过程,承认其学习过程的差异,并且呼吁对外汉语研究者和教师应该首先具备接受和包容多元文化和多种语言学习过程差异的心态,采取积极的态度来对待留学生的书写习惯或方式,而不是按传统习惯将此界定为“错误”并加以细致的纠正。  相似文献

近20年来,中国农村社区已经从传统的“全耕社会”演进为“半耕社会”。乡村社区的转型导致乡村教育也面临一些新的困惑：学校管理以县为主还是以乡村为主？中小学布局调整是“就近入学”还是“集中办学”？学校对社区是开放教育资源还是实行封闭式管理？乡村学校如何开展素质教育？面对这些困惑,笔者建议：一要根据乡村社区发展的需要重新界定乡村教育的性质与功能;二要重现审视教育管理体制,避免乡村学校管理中出现的权力真空;三是在多元文化理论背景中重新构建农村教育的课程模式。  相似文献

英国作为最大的语言输出国在很长的一段时期并不重视外语的教育。但在后殖民时代,英国的政府和民众越来越认识到外语学习的重要性。英国必须以更加开放的心态和更加有效的外语教育政策来推动英国民众的外语学习。因此近年来,英国教育技能部推出了《语言学习》和《全民的外语:生活的外语——外语教育发展战略》等重要文件。本文从解读文本入手,分析和论述了当前英国外语教育存在的问题、近期及长远的发展目标和发展战略的特点等。本文认为,在后殖民时代英国外语教育的政策呈现多元文化认同的趋势。多元文化认同是全球化时代不可避免的教育发展趋势,对我国目前制定新时期的外语教育政策有很大的借鉴意义。  相似文献

How critical thinking,multicultural education and teacher qualification affect anti-immigrant attitudes

Previous studies identify a relationship between education and anti-immigrant attitudes. There is, however, uncertainty regarding the underlying explanations linking education to attitudes. In this article, we examine whether a relationship exists between exposure to teaching about critical thinking as well as multiculturalism (measured as religions/cultures as well as xenophobia/racism), and anti-immigrant attitudes among adolescents. In addition, we examine whether teacher qualification matters for attitudes. The analysis is based on survey data collected from high school students in Sweden. The results show an association between exposure to teaching about critical thinking as well as multiculturalism (both indicators) and anti-immigrant attitudes among students, i.e. higher exposure is related to lower levels of anti-immigrant attitudes. However, we find that teaching about xenophobia/ racism affects attitudes, but not when simultaneously controlling for teaching about critical thinking and religions/cultures. In terms of teacher qualification, we find that students in schools with a high proportion of certified teachers tend to have lower levels of anti-immigrant attitudes.  相似文献

小提琴协奏曲《梁祝》可称得上是20世纪华人经典音乐作品中的精品,在世界音乐舞台上也享有极高的声誉。长期以来,人们总喜欢把其说成是中国的《罗密欧与朱丽叶》。其实,《梁祝》的成功有着诸多方面的原因,中、西方音乐有着各自不同的个性、文化底蕴和成就模式,在价值评判中不可能用同一的标准去衡量。中国音乐有自己独到的个性,它和其它国家或民族的音乐一样,都是世界灿烂音乐文化的不可缺少的重要组成部分,都同样为世界音乐文化的发展与繁荣做出了巨大的贡献。  相似文献
