This paper analyzes teacher responses to a distinctive reform that sought to ­implement alignment between high schools and colleges. A survey of 225 teachers is used to examine teachers’ perceptions of the reform’s effectiveness, further resources needed, and how perceptions changed over time. The reform was perceived as effective for college-bound students, but not for non-college-bound students, magnifying the discrepant needs of these groups. Steps to improve the program are suggested.  相似文献

The Career-related Programme (CP) is an innovative education programme by the International Baccalaureate (IB). Designed to promote college and career readiness equally in the last two years of high school, the CP combines rigorous university preparatory coursework with targeted career-related studies. This study examines the patterns of higher education enrolment, destination and persistence of all CP graduates from high schools in the US between 2013 and 2015. The results indicate that CP graduates enrol in higher education at higher rates than do all high school graduates nationally and career and technical education concentrators specifically: 81% versus 68% versus 70%, respectively. They persist for 1 year at higher rates than do all high school graduates: 89% versus 72%, respectively. Results of logistic regression show that the number of IB exams and the completion of the CP certificate are significant predictors of postsecondary enrolment and that higher mean IB exam scores predict higher odds of a student attending a 4-year institution over a 2-year institution. The results suggest that students who engage in career and technical education alongside rigorous university preparatory coursework within the CP are well-prepared to succeed in higher education.  相似文献

This study examined relations among early family risk, children's behavioral regulation at 54 months and kindergarten, and academic achievement in first grade using data on 1,298 children from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development. Family risk was indexed by ethnic minority status, low maternal education, low average family income from 1 - 54 months, and high maternal depressive symptoms from 1 - 54 months. Results of structural equation modeling indicated that minority status, low maternal education, and low family income had significant negative effects on reading, math, and vocabulary achievement in first grade. Modest indirect effects were also found from ethnicity, maternal education, and maternal depressive symptoms, through 54-month and kindergarten behavioral regulation to first-grade achievement. Discussion focuses on the importance of behavioral regulation for school success especially for children facing early risk.  相似文献

This rejoinder provides a reply to comments on a middle school college readiness index, which was devised to generate earlier and more nuanced readiness diagnoses to K‐12 students. Issues of reliability and validity (including construct underrepresentation and construct‐irrelevant variance) are discussed in detail. In addition, comments from Lazowski et al. and Mattern et al. provide a useful summary of areas where more college readiness research is needed. This rejoinder elaborates on those essential next steps, including deploying readiness indicators in school settings. Advances in the measurement of noncognitive skills will require more validity research using more contemporary data from authentic school settings. Still, the middle school college readiness index is a promising proof of concept, demonstrating the utility of diverse, early measures to support targeted, timely interventions.  相似文献

mHealth applications (MHA) have recently attracted great attention from various stakeholders as they are indeed important means to enhance users’ subjective well-being. While prior research has mainly focused on intention or adoption phase, little work has empirically examined the post-adoption effects of MHA with scarce attention given to the well-being outcome. Actual users are likely to conceive the values of MHA based mainly on their direct experience with it. In this paper, the dimensions of users’ technology readiness are regarded as major impetuses for perceived utilitarian and hedonic values, which in turn influence subjective well-being among MHA users. The proposed readiness-value model is analyzed using survey data collected from 731 users of MHA. The findings show that the model significantly predicts users’ subjective well-being considering that utilitarian value is more important for male users, whereas hedonic value has a more salient effect for female users. It also reveals that enablers of technology readiness (i.e., innovativeness and optimism) exert a stronger influence than that of inhibitors (i.e., discomfort and insecurity) on the perceived values of MHA. These results have essential implications for theory and practice.  相似文献

以易地参赛环境作为一个整体研究对象,对易地参赛环境的定义、分类及其影响运动员赛前竞技状态的机制及其适应性调节进行了理论分析.研究认为,易地参赛环境包括自然环境和社会环境.这两方面的环境各有自己特定的内容,相互间又密切相联、互相渗透.易地参赛环境对运动员竞技状态的影响与易地参赛环境引起运动员应激反应有关,其所引起应激反应的程度受易地参赛环境对运动员的刺激量以及运动员对易地参赛环境认知合理性的影响.对易地参赛环境调适的关键是降低易地参赛环境对运动员的刺激量及提高运动员对易地参赛环境认知的合理性.实现调适关键的途径包括两方面:自然适应和人为调节.  相似文献

自20世纪70年代美国国家航空航天局首次提出技术成熟度的概念以来,技术成熟度评价作为一种控制研制风险的有效工具,在美国的重大武器装备采办项目管理中发挥了重要的作用。但目前该工具在我国的应用尚不成熟,没有形成科学、系统的评价方法。针对该现状,提出一个技术成熟度评价的指标体系,用以全面刻画技术在向装备实物转化过程中的状态;同时提出基于层次分析法、信息熵和灰色关联聚类的指标权重确定方法,使得专家的决策信息得以充分挖掘利用。通过一个算例验证该方法在应用中的可行性和有效性,旨在为进一步开展技术成熟度管理工作提供借鉴。  相似文献

由于传统技术成熟度评价标准规范以航天和武器系统为背景制定,为适应使用范围扩大和技术多样性带来的挑战,需要研究更加通用和易用的评价标准。在国家科技重大专项技术成熟度评价研究与实践基础上,面向设备类技术研究更加通用的技术成熟度标准。首先,选取了五个具有代表性的技术成熟度评价标准规范,通过对比分析提出了需要研究提高标准通用化的问题。然后,以继承性、通用性和易用性为原则,重点研究提出了技术成熟度相关术语,各级定义、内涵和要求并举例说明。设备类技术成熟度通用评价标准更突出各级核心要求和不同级别的差异,更具有通用性也更容易理解和使用。  相似文献
