The Effectiveness of an Augmented Reality Head-Mounted Display in Learning Skull Anatomy at a Community College

Despite an increase in the use of technology in undergraduate anatomy education, and the rising popularity of online anatomy courses at community colleges in the United States, there have been no reports on the efficacy of augmented reality on anatomy education in this population. The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that augmented reality is an effective and engaging tool for learning anatomy in community college students. Participants recruited from Cuyahoga Community College (Cleveland, OH) studied skull anatomy using either traditional tools (i.e., textbook and plastic skull model) or an augmented reality head-mounted display with an interactive virtual skull application. Comparison of knowledge before and following the study period revealed that augmented reality was an effective tool for learning skull anatomy: pre-quiz = 32.7% (± 25.2); mean (± SD), post-quiz = 61.8% (± 19.5); n = 15; t₍₂₈₎ = 3.53; P = 0.001. The traditional tools were equally effective: pre-quiz = 44.9 % (± 18.6), post-quiz = 67.9 % (± 17.3); n = 17; t₍₃₂₎ = 3.73; P = 0.0007. Students rated the augmented reality device as 9.6 (± 1.0); mean (± SD) when asked if it fit the statement “fun to use” on a semantic differential scale from 1 (poor) to 10 (excellent). In conclusion, this study found that augmented reality is an effective and engaging tool for the instruction of skull anatomy at a community college.  相似文献

以社区为驱动力实现全民健康的研究是一条社区推动全面小康之路,最终目的是解决国民健康面临的现实困境,促进健康中国战略的实施。文章通过文献资料法、逻辑分析法等研究方法,从社区对全民健康计划实施的意义着手,较为全面、系统的分析了社区在全民健康目标实现过程中的作用、价值及内在联系,并提出:以卫生服务管理为突破口,构建新型卫生健康管理服务模式;以社区为单位,提升国民健康素养水平;以环境治理为基点,优化社区环境质量;以国家战略为引领,发展社区健康产业等路径,助推全民健康目标的实现进度。  相似文献

[目的/意义] 随着自主创新战略的提出，科技信息和科技情报在国家科技发展中的基础性作用日益受到重视，开展区域创新和经济发展的信息服务研究与实践，构建面向区域创新和经济发展的信息服务方法体系、实施方案，是十分必要的。[方法/过程] 通过对国内外文献情报机构服务区域创新和经济发展的实践调研，以及中国科学院文献情报中心在"十二五"和"十三五"期间面向省级科学院、中国科学院转化中心、地方政府、园区企业开展区域信息服务的整体设计和服务实践与案例分析，总结归纳中国科学院文献情报中心开展区域创新和经济发展知识服务的特色和成效。[结果/结论] 在实践的基础上提出图书馆面向区域创新和产业发展提供信息服务，进一步拓展了图书馆的服务领域，是图书馆发展的一个生长点，并将在服务内容与服务方式上不断发展完善。  相似文献   

How and why are educators using Instagram?

Social media are commonplace in many educators’ lives, but their Instagram activities have received no prior attention in the empirical literature. We therefore created and disseminated a survey regarding educators’ Instagram use. Analyses of 841 responses suggested participants were generally intensive users of Instagram who engaged in the exchange of both professional knowledge and wisdom, as well as affective support. In addition to identifying benefits to Instagram use, some participants offered critiques of Instagram’s professional utility. We discuss the implications of these findings for educators’ work in a digital era and the future of research on educators’ social media activities.  相似文献

新冠疫情背景下 我国民族传统体育的价值呈现与发展契机

运用文献资料法和逻辑分析法，以新冠疫情期间太极拳、八段锦等民族传统体育对医患双方的身体康健和精神免疫为切入点，阐释民族传统体育在“国之大事”之际的“为民情怀”，及其表现出的至高的生命尊重。在此基础上，对民族传统体育的科学价值、人文精神、现代化发展进行反思。提出，民族传统体育学科建设，应利用好发展契机，积极承担和主导学术话语的建构；充分发挥中国文化的载体作用，以“世界性”的抱负，承担传递人类命运共同体思想的战略使命；扎根民间，立足中国，坚持中西结合、人文与科学结合。  相似文献   

河北天生桥国家地质公园蜘蛛群落及多样性

2018年8月运用随机扫网、陷阱法和样方相结合的采集方法对河北天生桥国家地质公园蜘蛛种类和群落结构进行了调查,共获得1112头蜘蛛标本,隶属22科54属77种。采用群落多样性指数分析其多样性,结果阐明:天生桥国家地质公园蜘蛛具有丰富的物种多样性,不同植被环境中蜘蛛群落的组成结构有明显差别。灌木丛生境中蜘蛛物种丰富度、个体密度和多样性指数最高,具有稳定的群落结构;阔叶林中蜘蛛均匀度最高;针叶林和草甸中的物种丰富度和个体密度较低,优势度明显。植被保护对保护蜘蛛多样性具有重要意义。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Olfaction has been described as one of the least studied of the senses. This has certainly proven true in Communication. This project applies Ethnography of Communication and Cultural Discourse Analysis to examine the role that olfaction plays in the cultural meaning systems of two speech communities: residents surrounding the Gowanus Canal and bereaved parents. The cultural hub used to explore the cultural significance of olfaction in both speech communities is feeling. The analyses illustrate how emotions are tied to associated sensations and further become activated through radiants of dwelling, relating and acting. The analysis also shows how olfaction may serve to unify and separate members of a community. The significance of this research encourages stretching the boundaries of communication studies by examining the less studied physical senses and the boundaries of Cultural Discourse Analysis by providing distinctions that others can incorporate when examining feelings.  相似文献
