The author, a professor at the University of Toronto, touches briefly on the extensive and rich archival literature that supports
the teaching of macroappraisal, but notes that this is not the only educational material she offers her students when teaching
appraisal theory. She discusses the usefulness to archivists of literature from the fields of ethnography, organizational
knowing, records in history, personal documentary behaviour, memory, and communications, noting that the use of texts from
these fields can encourage students to reflect on their own presumptions and to develop a taste for the wide reading and research

This article introduces an international and interdisciplinary summer school, ‘Living in the Landscape’ (LiLa) in 2018. LiLa's practices focused on creating dialogue among art education, anthropology and nature science and developing culturally sustainable methods for investigating cultural heritage in the Komi Republic of Russia. The article's research interest is how dialogue and cultural heritage appear in the artistic processes, artworks and final exhibition of the summer school. These are examined through art‐based action research in order to develop international, multidisciplinary and culturally sustainable art education. The four‐field model utilised in the research highlights the multidimensional role of dialogue in both individual and collaborative artistic endeavours. 相似文献

Drawing on a larger study on “Gender practices and violence between peers: the stakes of mixed-sex education”, this paper examines the methodological challenges specific to carrying out ethnography in an elite high school. The researcher’s subjective experience in the field reveals the power dynamics at play in the elite setting. We also examine how interdisciplinary collective analysis of the observation journals unveils less-examined challenges to conceptualization in the research process. We call for the heuristic value when contradiction and subjectivity are acknowledged and implicated both in the field and data analysis, which leads us to articulate different social identities in the elite school environment. 相似文献

芳香产业以其天然、美丽、健康的优势在国内外市场备受青睐。我国是芳香植物资源大国,但因长期缺乏以政府为主导的科研与人才投入,导致我国在该领域研究相对落后,人才培养体系滞后。为改变这一状态,在校领导的支持下率先在国内建立芳香植物研发中心,设立“芳香植物种质资源与种植”“精油提取加工与成分分析”“精油功效与安全性研究”以及“芳香康复花园”4个研究方向。通过紧密服务种植基地与提取加工企业,开展校企与国际合作,促进了科研成果转化。在积极探索的基础上,中心持续保持创新,构建了专业研究芳香植物科研平台,培养了一批芳香植物领域的跨学科专业人才,为企业发展提供了科技支持与发展动力。 相似文献

Interdisciplinary work within higher education has increased significantly over past decades (Amey 2004; Creamer and Lattuca
2005). However, the professional implications of interdisciplinary research and instruction for the faculty members who engage
in such academic work remain unclear. This study of science educators who hold appointments in two academic departments begins
to address this empirical gap. The outcomes provide insight into the factors that influence the professional lives of these
faculty members. The knowledge gained from the study will provide mentors, colleagues, and administrators insight into the
challenges facing academics undertaking this work. Further, this research seeks to inform policy makers in regard to how tenure
and promotion is determined for jointly appointed faculty in science education and other interdisciplinary fields.

Interdisciplinarity is rapidly becoming a norm within both the professional and academic worlds, and the ability to collaborate is becoming an essential skill for all graduates. Chemistry Is in the News (CIITN) is a curriculum that aims to teach students this skill by engaging student collaborative groups in a project that ties real world events and topics to the content taught in the classroom. While the collaborative activity has been successful in many ways, the challenge of maintaining individual accountability within the collaborative activity has persisted. The need to balance the tension between promoting collaboration and maintaining individual performance standards drove the development of an intra‐group peer review system. In developing this peer review system, four goals guide the design: the desire to promote collaboration, to produce a differentiated score among group members reflecting the contribution each person made, to improve student perception of fairness and accuracy in the assessment process of CIITN and to avoid artificially inflating students’ grades. The system was assessed in the winter semester of 2004 in a large lecture course at a major Midwestern university via student questionnaires and the CIITN scores. Evidence is provided to suggest that the intra‐group peer review system has met its core goals. 相似文献
