A two-dimensional theory for the incremental deformations of an initially stressed continuum with couple stresses is established in this paper. As applications of theory, the problems of internal instability and wave propagation are studied. It is found that the otherwise non-dispersive waves become dispersive, and additional local modes of buckling and vibratory motion are observed. To complete the theory, a stress function formulation of equations is also presented.  相似文献

Speaker variability is an important source of speech variations which makes continuous speech recognition a difficult task. Adapting automatic speech recognition (ASR) models to the speaker variations is a well-known strategy to cope with the challenge, Almost all such techniques focus on developing adaptation solutions within the acoustic models of the ASR systems. Although variations of the acoustic features constitute an important portion of the inter-speaker variations, they do not cover variations at the phonetic level. Phonetic variations are known to form an important part of variations which are influenced by both micro-segmental and suprasegmental factors. Inter-speaker phonetic variations are influenced by the structure and anatomy of a speaker's articulatory system and also his/her speaking style which is driven by many speaker background characteristics such as accent, gender, age, socioeconomic and educational class. The effect of inter-speaker variations in the feature space may cause explicit phone recognition errors. These errors can be compensated later by having appropriate pronunciation variants for the lexicon entries which consider likely phone misclassifications besides pronunciation. In this paper, we introduce speaker adaptive dynamic pronunciation models, which generate different lexicons for various speaker clusters and different ranges of speech rate. The models are hybrids of speaker adapted contextual rules and dynamic generalized decision trees, which take into account word phonological structures, rate of speech, unigram probabilities and stress to generate pronunciation variants of words. Employing the set of speaker adapted dynamic lexicons in a Farsi (Persian) continuous speech recognition task results in word error rate reductions of as much as 10.1% in a speaker-dependent scenario and 7.4% in a speaker-independent scenario.  相似文献

The effect of transmission time of propagating disturbances on the dynamic instability of structures is discussed in this paper. Through a parametric study it is shown that for certain values of transmission time and wave frequency parameters, the structure may become dynamically unstable. An example is worked out, and graphical results depicting the regions of instability are presented.  相似文献

This paper considers the problem of optimal shaping of arches subjected to general loading. The investigation comprises the search for the optimum centerline form as well as the optimum area distribution along the arch. As objective function and constraints, the appropriate combinations of arch thrust, material volume, total arc length, and enclosed area are considered.  相似文献

A mathematical model of surface layers such as tilings, plasters and coatings is established in this paper. To solve the field equations analytically, use is made of a pertubation scheme which yields the influence of the “backing” on the elastic behavior of “the sheet”. As an application, an illustrative example is worked out and the results are discussed.  相似文献

The success or failure of any team lies in the skills and abilities of the players that comprise the team. The process of player selection and team formation in multi-player sports is a complex multi-criteria problem where the ultimate success is determined by how the collection of individual players forms an effective team. In general, the selection of soccer players and formation of a team are judgments made by the coaches on the basis of the best available information. Very few structured and analytical models have been developed to support coaches in this effort. We propose a two-phase framework for player selection and team formation in soccer. The first phase evaluates the alternative players with a fuzzy ranking method and selects the top performers for inclusion in the team. The second phase evaluates the alternative combinations of the selected players with a Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) and selects the best combinations for team formation. A case study is used to illustrate the performance of the proposed approach.  相似文献
