“Different than Us”: Othering,Orientalism, and US middle school students' discourses on Japan 总被引：1，自引：0，他引：1
This study critically examines the discourses of Japan as employed by young people in the United States. In particular, it analyses the free writings of US middle school students that were collected at three schools with different community environments (rural, urban, and suburban). The study identifies the features and styles of the discourse(s) that occur in the students' writings, examines the ways the discourse of Othering and Orientalism operate in these texts, and explores the specificity of contemporary American identity formation in relation to the imaginary boundary between Japan (“them”) and the United States (“us”). 相似文献

This paper examines the labor market outcomes of two different forms of cross-border higher education degree programs (i.e., study abroad vs. twinning) between Malaysia and Japan. Based on a new graduate survey, it examines whether there are differences in the labor market outcomes between the two programs and what other factors have significant effects on the labor market outcomes. We observed no significant differences in the labor market outcomes between the two programs. Instead, the degree fields, internship, and university rankings are significant for the first employment. For current work, post-graduation qualifications and skills such as English become important. 相似文献

日本科学技术振兴机构（JST）是日本负责科技政策执行的最大科研资助机构之一。日本作为传统的创新型国家,其科技发展离不开JST的研发管理。今天,重新审视JST的内部机制,对我国的“双创”具有一定的参考意义。本文由三部分构成：JST概况、主要活动、以及基于循证的研发战略制定。JST概况介绍其主要职能：确立研发战略、资助研发、构建科技基础设施、培养青年科学家、促进科学交流;JST主要活动包含：规划研发战略、支撑从基础研究到产学研转化再到市场化的创新全过程、建设科技基础设施。JST基于循证的研发战略主要介绍其工作流：构建科技信息平台、数据分析、相关结果以循证（evidence）的方式供智库参考、利用智库拟定研发战略、提供资助领域的确定,通过项目资助促进相关研发,科技信息的再产生,最终形成支持创新的循环体系。 相似文献
