Other initiatives like the Journal Usage Factor, EigenFactor?, and Metrics from Scholarly Usage of Resources (MESUR) are envisioned to become the basis for future tools to evaluate the impact of scholarly information. Serials, one of the more complicated areas of library technical endeavors, has lacked the benefit of standards for a long time. Even now, with standards beginning to be available, the majority of institutions are not working within standard serials formats. A survey to determine the use of serials standards in libraries was conducted in 1988 by the American Library Association, Resources and Technical Services Division, Serials Section, Committee to Study Serials Standards. In the spring of 1988 a survey was sent to a group encompassing the Association of Research Libraries members, CONSER participants, United States Newspaper Program participants, Microform Project libraries, and some vendors and librarians who attended the Committee meetings on a regular basis. The survey questionnaire assessed the current level of serials standards awareness of librarians and vendors. Topics included the type of serials systems used, standards relevant to serials control and union listing and whether or not they are implemented, types and levels of training staff received in the application of standards, benefits of the standards, and areas where standards are most needed. 相似文献

Low-income single-mother students are disproportionately choosing to attend for-profit schools over community colleges when pursuing associate’s degrees and subbaccalaureate certificates. For-profit schools offer single mothers juggling school, employment, and family the benefits of accelerated degree programs along with enhanced convenience and streamlined student services. Community colleges can become a more appealing and feasible option for low-income single-mother students by adopting some of these characteristics while concurrently advertising their relative affordability and high level of academic rigor. 相似文献

It was hypothesized that prosodic reading facilitates beginning readers’ comprehension by allowing them to segment the text into meaningful word groups. Two prosodic features of the oral reading of second-grade students were considered: lack of inappropriate pauses and attention to punctuation. To examine the unique contribution of these features to reading comprehension, fluency (speed and accuracy of reading) and vocabulary were controlled. As expected, both prosodic features were significantly related to comprehension, jointly explaining as much variance as fluency. Accordingly, it might be counterproductive to encourage reading speed and accuracy at the expense of prosody. 相似文献

观察了广枣提取液对小鼠免疫功能、运动耐力的影响。结果表明:广枣提取液可明显增加小鼠耐缺氧时间,延长小鼠负重游泳时间,降低运动后小鼠血乳酸水平,显著提高其心肌组织中SOD活力;同时明显增加小鼠脾脏/体重、胸腺/体重比值,增强小鼠对巨噬细胞的吞噬能力.提高小鼠的细胞免疫、体液免疫功能。提示广枣提取液具有显著促进小鼠免疫功能及显著提高小鼠运动耐力的功效。 相似文献
