Journal impact factor (IF) inflation is suggested as a problem resulting from commentaries published by the editors in chief (EiCs) of their respective journals. However, it is unclear whether this is a systemic problem across the top thirty cardiovascular medicine journals. Therefore, the purpose of this investigation was to examine the relationship between the number of commentaries written by an EiC and their journal''s IF and Eigenfactor (Ef). Utilizing Spearman rank partial correlations controlling for length of service as the EiC, significant moderate correlations were found between the number of commentaries and the number of first-author commentaries by the EiC and the IF of their journal (r=0.568, p=0.001 and r=0.504, p=0.005; respectively). A weak but still significant correlation was found between the number of commentaries by the EiC and the Ef of their journal (r=0.431, p=0.020). The reason for these correlations is unclear, and whether the methodology used to compute the IF and Ef should be modified needs further research.  相似文献

This study compares the two-year impact factor (JIF2), JIF2 without journal self-citation (JIF2_noJSC), five-year impact factor (JIF5), eigenfactor score and article influence score (AIS) and investigates their relative changes with time. JIF2 increased faster than JIF5 overall. The relative change between JIF2 and JIF_noJSC shows that the control of JCR over journal self-citation is effective to some extent. JIF5 is more discriminative than JIF2. The correlation between JIF5 and AIS is stronger than that between JIF5 and the eigenfactor score. The relative change in journal rank according to different indicators varies with the ratio of the indicators and can be up to 60 % of the number of journals in a subject category. There is subject category discrepancy in the average AIS and its change over time. Through the screening of journals according to variations in the ratio of JIF2 to JIF5 for journals in individual subject categories, we found that journals in the same subject categories can have considerably different citation patterns. To provide a fair comparison of journals in individual subject categories, we argue that it is better to replace JIF2 with the ready-made JIF5 when ranking journals.  相似文献

Eigenfactor     
This article examines Eigenfactor, a Web-based tool that librarians and others can use to ascertain the quality of research journals. Developed by Carl Bergstrom, a University of Washington biology professor, the eigenfactor.org Web site offers several components that users can employ to measure the significance of research publications: the Eigenfactor score, Article Influence score, and the Eigenfactor subject category list. These components are briefly explained along with the ability to discover the monetary value of research publications.  相似文献

通过特征因子与影响因子及总被引频次的指标比较分析和实例佐证,发现特征因子在跨学科评价方面的优势较突出。对我国的优秀期刊进行特征因子指标分析,得到了与常规影响因子不同的结论:1)我国一流期刊实际的学术影响力远低于国际一流期刊的影响力;2)相对于其他学科,我国物理和化学学科期刊在国际上的学术影响力较大,在影响因子排名处于劣势的我国数学类期刊,在国际上也具有一定的影响力。  相似文献

自2005年提出以来,h-指数受到了图书情报界和科技期刊界的广泛关注。国内外学者基于h-指数不足的基础上,提出了不同的扩展指标,如g-指数、hg-指数、A-指数、R-指数、AR-指数、hm-指数、mock h-指数、f-指数、e-指数、j-指数、hI-指数和SRI-指数等。以JCR内科学133种期刊为样本,Eigenfactor指标为参照,对h-指数及其扩展指标进行相关性分析发现,h-指数系列扩展指标均与Eigenfactor成显著性正相关,说明h-指数系列扩展指标可很好地用于期刊学术影响力的评价。同时,我们还从问卷调查的角度对h-指数及其扩展指标进行验证,发现相比h-指数,j-指数、A-指数、g-指数、e-指数、R-指数、hg-指数可很好地凸显期刊的学术影响力。因此,我们认为,h-指数系列扩展指标丰富和发展了h-指数的期刊评价功能。  相似文献

介绍了JCR新引入的期刊评价指标——特征因子的工作原理和计算方法,并用软件实现了该算法。以18种CSSCI收录图书情报学期刊为例,计算出它们的特征因子分值和论文影响分值,在此基础上对这两项指标同其他期刊评价指标的关系进行了探讨,结果表明,特征因子分值、论文影响分值和期刊综合指数、h指数、影响因子之间存在较强的皮尔逊相关性。  相似文献

【目的】标准特征因子是JCR 2015公布的新指标,研究其特点有助于深化其应用。【方法】采用统计学方法与岭回归对标准特征因子与特征因子进行了比较分析。【结果】发现标准特征因子、特征因子的统计学特征比较接近,与其他文献计量指标的相关关系相似。标准特征因子与特征因子相似度极高。标准特征因子并没有提高指标的区分度,与其他文献计量指标的关系也相似。特征因子转换为标准特征的非线性转换是导致以上现象的根本原因。【结论】在期刊多属性评价中,不能同时选取这两个指标,应优先选取标准特征因子。  相似文献

参照统计学中的置信限的概念,定义了影响力数据的置信限和稳定度。这一定义不仅综合考虑了影响因子、特征因子、总被引频次、载文量等文献计量指标,而且具有计算简便、可操作性较强的特点。通过对工程技术类79种期刊的实例计算与分析,进一步论证了有关影响因子的置信限与稳定度在研究评价和期刊评估中的实用性。  相似文献

The Eigenfactor score is a journal influence metric developed at the Department of Biology of the University of Washington and recently introduced in the Science and Social Science Journal Citation Reports maintained by Thomson Reuters. It provides a compelling measure of journal status with solid mathematical background, sound axiomatic foundation, intriguing stochastic interpretation, and many interesting relationships to other ranking measures.
