| 摘 要： | 本主要就与英语时态有关的几个语法现象来分析英语时态的语篇功能。英语时态的使用不仅仅是一种句法规则，在很多时候选用哪一种时态取决于语篇的大环境，服务于语篇的交际目的。因而对于教师来说，不仅要传授时态使用的抽象规则，也要教授学生从篇章的整体角度去把握与时态相关的语言现象。

| Abstract: | This article discusses the discourse functions of the English tenses in connection to their grammatical rules. Far from being a body of purely syntactical rules, the choice of a tense depends on the context of a discourse and serves its communicative functions. In their teaching, therefore, teachers should not only emphasize the rules of the tenses but also show the students how to deal with a discourse from a contextual point of view. |
