| 摘 要： | 美国虽为移民国家,但经过数百年的发展逐渐形成了自己独有的国民性格.兴起于19世纪30年代的美国超验主义思潮,涤荡了整个美国社会,使美国文化逐渐脱离欧洲文化,使美国人逐渐成为一个新的民族.从个人主义传统、美国价值观、自由宽容精神以及实践创新精神等方面,论述了超验主义在塑造美国国民性格中的作用.

| Abstract: | An immigrant country as it is, the US has grown up through several centuries of development to be a new nation with distinct national character. Transcendentalism, which was started in 1830s, had refreshed the whole American soceity, moved American culture gradually away from the European, and thus played a vital part in transforming the American immigrants into a new people. In this paper, the role of transcendentalism in the transformation is explored in terms of individualism, American values, tolerance, and innovation. |
