| Abstract: | Humor is one of the unique ways for human beings to express their feelings.It becomes one of the important topics in pragmatic study how the human system operates.This article introduces four maxims of Gricean cooperative principle and attempts to explore how humor in Friends,an American situation comedy is caused by violation of the principle and how to interpret humor in context.It will help us to understand English humor deeply so as to improve learners’ communicative ability of language. |
